Hi Dot, How about telling us more about Caroline Rinker? I have a Caroline "Carrie" Ward born abt. 1845 in Morris County (probably Drakesville, now Ledgewood) that I have long been searching for. So many of u helped me find Carol`s uncle, Frank SLOVER, that I thought u might like to know how it turned out on 12/28/01. It could`nt have been better! Frank turned out to be a sweet, wonderful, loving sweetheart--could`nt possibly ask for more. Carol & her younger 1/2 brother, Joey & wife, Sherrill, were with us. Frank had--among other things--their mother, Marie`s, b.cert! Also, tons of info and answers to ???? that only he, being the last living from that era, could possibly know. He showed them where Marie was born, the gparents & ggparents homes, but, most incredibly-----PICTURES OFALL OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!! In case U R wondering where I fit into this picture, Carol & I were childhood friends--5 & 6 yr. olds--and 10 & 11 yr. olds when Joey was born. My husband and I recently ordered a set of 3 VHS tapes called "A Historical Review, Plainfield and Its Neighbors, 1830-1965." The brochure had been sent to the alumni from North Plainfield HS. We have been so impressed by them. They were created by guys who obviously loved the area, and made good use of the old pictures and postcards they had available. We are not connected in any way, shape, or form, to these people who are selling them. We just enjoy them so much that we thought others with a history in the area might like to know about them. My hubby is from the North Plainfield/Watchung area, and he gets very involved in viewing them. Each is $25, $5 shipping, and you can get all three for $69, and free shipping. Tom, He isn't in the published tombstone inscriptions for the New Providence Presbyterian Church and not in the published list for the New Providence Methodist Church. Littell says that the Raddin homestead was located near Feltsville some of which is actually part of Berkeley Heights. I checked the Westfield Pres Cemetery and found nothing. 9 persons with the surname Raddin are buried in Scotch Plains Baptist cemetery but Jeremiah (or Jeremy) was not listed. Not in the published list for Rahway, Springfield, and Connecticut Farms (Union Twp). You need to check the NJ state 1875 census to see if he was alive at that time. Often an ill parent went to live with a son or daughter who could care for him/her when a spouse was not able. Before 1903, you have to supply the exact county (or even township) in NJ for the Archives to check death records. Unfortunately New Providence is/was bounded by both Morris County and Somerset County. Perhaps someone could check the NJ Will Index for the 1870-80 time period which would give you the correct county. You do not say, but was he the Jeremiah Raddin who was born in April 1806 who married Abigail Frazee and had children Reuben, Mary, William, Ellis, Hervy, Eliza Jane and Abigail?
