I came across the following bit of info, and am wondering if anyone can tell me whether or not Capt. John Lemoine is the same as John Lemon of Oxford, Sussex (Warren) Co., NJ, s/o Joseph Lemon? (John Maxwell was from Sussex Co., so maybe John Lemoine was, also?): http://www.royalprovincial.com/military/courts/cmsnow.htm General Court Martial of Patrick Snow At a General Court Martial held at New York in the province of New York, on Saturday the 1st of February, and continued by Adjournment to Tuesday March the 4th, 1777, by virtue of a Warrant bearing date the 31st Ultimo, frorn His Excellency Sir William HOWE Knight of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath; General and Commander in Chief of all His Majesty's Forces, within the Colonies, laying on the Atlantic Ocean, from Nova Scotia to West Florida inclusive &c &c &c Lieutenant Colonel John MAXWELL, 27th Regiment of Foot President Capt. BARTON (fnu) served on the staff of the 2nd Regiment Hunterdon Could anyone help to answer these questions: 1. Is this the same John MAXWELL whose name is in the Sussex Co. Deed Books as having deposed witnesses James BISHOP & Robt ALLISON on 28 February 1797. This was with regard to the December 1796 transfer of land from the heirs of Isaac SWAYZE of Oxford to the heirs of Joseph LEMON, also of Oxford. This land was located near the Beaver Brook, presumably in the vicinity of Swayzes Mills. 2. Was Robert MAXWELL related to his company commander, John? 3. Was Richard CURREN's name mispelled? Was he actually a CURRENT? 4. What was Lt. BARTON's first name? Does anyone know if STRYKKER's book comes in digital format? It lists soldier's names in alphabetical order, but I would love to be able to query his data by military unit level (the book does this for officers, but not enlisted men.) Thanks!
