From "Old Sussex County Families" by Stickney. "Among the Huguenots who exiled themselves to America in 1660, were members of a family called Pettit. They originally settled near Newtown, LI. About 1742, six brothers; Jonathan, Amos, John Nathaniel, Isaac and Charles came to Sussex County, NJ. Jonathan Pettit settled in Hardwick; Amos in Brighton; John in Newton; Nathaniel in Newton; and Isaac and Charles in Newton. Isaac and Charles during the Revolutionary War were Royalist and moved to Canada." There are several pages of information. I do believe that the Sussex County Historical Society sells this book.
