The background: Isaac V. BROWN, born somewhere in NJ about 1789 and husband of Ann Unknown born about 1796, was a shoemaker in Knowlton and came to live in the Walnut Valley - Blairstown area of New Jersey before 1860. The 1870 still shows him in Walnut Valley. Isaac V. had at least JAMES born about 1828 ROBERT born about 1830 Charlotte born about 1835. Charlotte or Sharlot married William LANCE or LANTZ. So far I have no marriage record for this couple so I don't know where or when they were married. I do know they were living in Walnut Valley in 1852 when the first child I know of was born. The family continued living there until 1870 when census records state that William is a widower. So..I'm looking for anything on Charlotte and anything on William who also dissappears after 1870. One more item on William. He is almost certainly the son of JOHN LANZT or LANCE and Nancy, both of whom lived in Walnut Valley but so far I have only very strong circumstancial evidence to prove this.
