>From the front page of the Wantage Recorder newspaper dated Friday 7 Aug 1903: Death's Harvest William COX One fo the kmost aged citizens of this borough, William COX, died on Tuesday from the infirmity of age. He had failed in health noticably for a year past, and was confined to his bed for a brief period only, so his decease was not unexpected. Of a vigorous intellect and well versed in the affairs current in his time, he was an entertaining talker. All his long life, (he was 85 years, 1 month and 2 days old) had been passed in the vicinity of Hamburg and Deckertown, and the last 25 years in the latter place, consequently his acquaintances were many. He married early in life Miss MARTIN who survives him. Her age varies not more than two or three years from his and she is quite feeble. The surviving children are: James of Tri-States, NY; Luther of Deckertown and Mrs. Emeline HAVENS of Wantage. One brother only of the large family of children, of which deceased was one, survives him. Deacon James COX, of this borough now past the 90 mark in years. Their family has been one of the prominent ones in Sussex county for several generations. The funeral services are to be held this Friday forenoon at the house, at 9:30 and the Baptist church at 10:00. Rev. James BRISTOW assisted by Rev. E. A. HAMILTON are to officiate. Interment to Deckertown Union Cemetery. Happy Ancestor Hunting, Cathy Cathy DiPietro cathode@earthlink.net
