Greetings All, Obituaries from the Wantage Recorder, Sussex, NJ dated Friday 12 Jan 1917 - Surnames SMITH, WEEDEN, DUNNING, HILL, KIMBLE, HEATER, FULLER, WESTFALL, CLARK, BURNS, BENNETT, BEEMER, OVERTON, WHEELER... Mrs. Adda E. SMITH Widow of George R. SMITH, former residents, near the borough of Sussex, died on Friday last week in Middletown, NY, after a long illness aged 56 years, 3 months, 25 days. She was born at Mt. Salem in Wantage township, a daughter of the late John W. and Sarah E. (BELL) ELSTON, June 12, 1863 she was married in Fredon this county to Mr. SMITH, he died some years ago. One son, Lewis E. SMITH of Middletown, survives them. Interment Fairview Cem., Sussex boro. She is also sutrvived by a brother, Fred ELSTON of Middletown. Matilda WEEDEN Died on Thursday last week at Johnson, NY aged 35 years, 11 monbths, 2 days. She was a daughter of Cyrus B. and Nancy E. DECKER and is survived by them and three brothers; Harry of Netcong; Abraham of Unionville, NY and Samuel, of Andover; also by two sisters: Mrs. Mary E. SNOOK, of Netcong; and Miss Anna WEEDEN, in Johnson. Funeral at home of Mrs. WEEDEN in Johnson, interment in the cemetery at Ridgeberry, NY. Mary Rorbach DUNNING Died at the Hotel Bristol, NYC Jan. 8th from pneumonia. Miss Dunning was born March 4, 1871, in Newton, a daughter of Gabriel Beakes DUNNING and Margaret Rorbach DUNNING. Deceased is survived by a brother, Dr. Charles M. DUNNING of Franklin. Miss DUNNING lived for many years with her aunt, Mrs. Samuel T. SMITH. Mrs. SMITH died just a week previously at the Hotel Bristol of pneumonia. Interment in the Newton Cemetery. Jacob M. HILL Eighty-one years old, was found dead in bed on Monday of last week in his home in Phillipsburg. He had been in ill health for about two months. Besides his wife, Mrs. Emma HILL, he is survived by eleven children: Isaac R. and Charles H. HILL, both at home; Mrs. William RAPSHER, of Pen Argyl; Mrs. Percy SUTTON, of Phillipsburg; Mrs. William S. MOORE, of Lambertville; Theodore HILL of Easton; George HILL of Delaware; Wilbur HILL, of Blairstown; Nathan B. HILL, of Newark; Adam HILL of Caldwell and Mrs. Mary HILL of Union Hill; also two sisters: Mrs. Henry MITTEN and Mrs. Carrie McCRACKEN, of Vienna and two brothers: Obadiah HILL of Delaware, and Richard HILL, of Sussex. Twenty-seven grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren also survive. Mr. HILL was a native of Sussex and lived in Phillipsburg for about two years. He had resided in the vicinity of Phillipsburg for fourteen years - Blairstown Press. Abraham A. KIMBLE Died Friday, Jan. 5, at the home of his daughter Mrs. Walter ROSS, in Franklin. Mr. KIMBLE is survived by the following children: Frank, Robert, Bertha, wife of Walter ROSS, of Franklin; Edna, wife of George HOLLY, of Butler; Dewey, of Whippany; Russell, of Newark. The brothers and sisters of the deceased are: George KIMBLE and John KIMBLE of Unionville, NY; William KIMBLE of North Paterson; Walter KIMBLE of Bloomingdale; Horace KIMBLE, of Freemansburg, PA; Mrs. Susie KRAMER, of Butler; Mrs. William CURRANT of Ogdensburg. Funeral at home of MRS. ROSS by Rev. R. F. Breanahan, pastor of Hamburg Baptist; interment in a cemetery in Parsippany, Morris co. Ira W. HEATER Died on Sunday of pneumonia at his home in Huntsburg, aged seventy-three. A widow and several children survive him. He was a native of PA. The body was taken to Dingmans, PA, where the funeral was held in the M. E. Church on Weds. and interment in Dingman Cemetery. John FULLER Died Thurs. last week at his home with his son, Floyd, in Sandyston township aged eighty-one years from heart disease. He is survived by two sons, Floyd and Lester, of Wallpack The funeral was at his late home on Sat. Rev. Robert Young officiating, interment in Wallpack Cemetery. Mrs. Ella WESTFALL Wife of Willis WESTFALL, died Sunday at their home in Plumbsock. Mrs. WESTFALL was born Dec. 10, 1862, near Beemerville. She was a daughter of David L. and Margaret (VanAUKEN) KYMER and was twice married. Her first husband, David SKELLINGER, died fifteen years ago. Mrs. WESTFALL is survived by her husband, Willis WESTFALL, and by three children of the first marriage, Warren, Charles and Pearl, at home. Two brothers also survive the deceased, John KYMER of Andover' and Horatio KYMER, of Bloomfield. Funeral services held Weds. afternoon from the house, Rev. W. C. Derez, of Branchville, officiated. Interment was made in Beemerville Cemetery. Mrs. Arthur CLARK and an infant daughter, died Sat. morning, Jan. 6th at her home near Mt. Salem. Mrs. CLARK was the beloved wife of Arthur CLARK and the daughter of George GOBLE and Clara (HAFNER) GOBLE, of Greenville, NY, and was born in Port Jervis eighteen years ago. She is survived by her husband, parents, three sisters and a brother, all living near Greenville, NY. She was of a loving, cheerful disposition and was loved and respected by all who knew her. The husband and other near friends have the sympathy of all in their great sorrow. The funeral was held at the home Tues, interment in Slawson Cemetery. Mrs. Elizabeth BURNS Widow, of Patrick BURNS, died this Thursday after a long illness at her home in Burns' Park in this boro, of bronchial asthma, aged 72 years, 7 months and 26 days. She was a daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (LEVI) DEMOUNT, was born in Newfoundland, and was married in Oak Ridge in 1867 to her late husband. She is survived by two children: Robert, and Mrs. George W. SUTTON, of this boro, also by two sisters, Mrs. Minerva AUMAN, a twin sister, and Electa VREELAND, of Newfoundland. Her husband died about three years ago. Lived all her life in this vicinity and was a highly respected woman. The funeral will take place next Monday at 2 p.m. at the house. Rev. J. K. EASTLY, officiating, interment in Fair View Cemetery. William BENNETT The death of William BENNETT at the Deer Park Sanitorium on Tues. came as a surprize to many people in Orange and Sussex counties who had listened only recently to his eloquence in pleading criminal cases. In paring a corn blood poisoning followed. The physician first removed the toe. Then it was found necessary to amputate his left leg. All was simply adding to his sufferings. He was born in Tri-States, NY, a son of David and Lanah (ENNIS) BENNETT. He was 58 years old. He attended the Tri-States school, later the Hartwell private school near Unionville. After working some time as a clerk in a store in Port Jervis, he taught school in Bushkill, PA. Then he took up the study of law in the office of Lewis E. Carr in Port Jervis....snip.... He married Miss Addie BAIRD, of Tri-States, who survives him with three children: Olive and Bessie at home; and Wilton, of NYC. James BENNETT, of Port Jervis Funeral this Friday, interment in Laurel Grove. Sidney BEEMER Killed Sidney BEEMER, of Newton, aged 27 years old, a brakeman on an Erie work train, while in Goshen, NY yards was assigned to take charge of a switch to allow train no 48 to pass. When the train passed and the work train went out of the switch the dead body of BEEMER was found between the rail badly mangled. It is believed he was ahit by the No. 48. It was about 5:40 a.m. Tuesday. Deceased was a resident of Newton, unmarried, a son of Sidney BEEMER, and is survived by several brothers and sisters, one of whom is employed in Park Block. The body was taken to Newton where the funeral was held Thursday at his sister's, Mrs. Simpson WOLFE. Interment was in Newton Cemetery. He is survived by brothers and sisters, Mrs. WOLFE, Miss Nell BEEMER, and William BEEMER of Newton; Percy BEEMER and Mrs. Louis BARTON, of Madison. George OVERTON Died in the town of Minisink near Westtown, NY on Monday of paralysis. He is survived by a widow and children. He was a well known farmer. The funeral takes place this Friday at 1 p.m. at the house, interment to follow in Unionvilloe cemetery. Mr. OVERTON was a son of Gabriel Sayer OVERTON and Ruth ALWARD OVERTON and was born May 24, 1855, near Sussex, NY. He was the last survivor of five children. He was married Jan. 13, 1886 to Alice E. SMITH. who survives with the following children: Grace O., wife of William H. LaRUE; Pearl M., wife of H. J. HOCKENBERY <sic>; Edith B., Frank R. and Clarence S., at home. Interment in Unionville Cemetery. Mrs. Elizabeth WHEELER Died of apoplexy on Monday at her home with her daughter, Mrs. Martha QUINCE, in Sussex Borough, aged 74 years, 11 months. She was born in Sanford, Broome Co., NY, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wm CHEERS and married Benjamin WHEELER in 1867. He died some years ago. She is survived by children: Mrs. QUINCE, above named, Mrs. W. A. LATHAM, and Miss Eleanor WHEELER, of Sanford, NY. The interment was in Sanford, NY.
