The New Jersey Herald- Feb.12,1948 Lemuel M. Sickels- Obituary Stanhope- Lemuel M. Sickels, of Stanhope, aged75, died at Dover General Hospital Wednesday evening after an illness of a week which was caused by shoveling snow. Mr. Sickels was the son of the late Dolson and Isabelle McPeek Sickels. Mr. Sickels, a foreman of the United Mineral-Wool Company, Stanhope, for over thirty years, retired ten years ago. He was a member of the Methodist Church in the Glen, Jr O.U.A.M. , an exempt member of the Stanhope Hose Company, and former Stanhope Council-man. His only survivor is a brother, William Sickels, of Stanhope. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the late home in Main St., Stanhope. Rev. Henry P. Bowen, pastor of the Methodist Church in the Glen assisted by Rev. Raymond E. Little, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiated. Interment was in Stanhope Union Cemetery. The New Jersey Herald- Thursday, September 13,1945 OBITUARY Mrs. Mary E. Sickels Stanhope-- Mrs, Mary E. VanTassel Sickels, 71, wife of Lemuel Sickels, of Stanhope, died suddenly at her home Monday. Mrs. Sickels had been in Netcong shopping, had returned home, prepared dinner and was sitting down to eat when she complained of feeling ill. Dr. J.J. Cartisser, and a neighbor, Mrs. LeGrand Ely, who is a nurse, were summoned, but Mrs. Sickels died about 25 minutes later. Mrs. Sickels was born in Stanhope, the daughter of the late William Van Tassel and Mary Huyler. Besides her husband,she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Daniel Inscho, of Stanhope, and Mrs. Guy Danis, of Ledgewood., anephew, Fred Danis, of Ledgewood. She was a member of the methodist Church in the Glen. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon. Interment was in Stanhope Union Cemetery.
