June 2006 Herbert Bentley and family are expecting to leave their beautiful home on Main and Halsted streets and become residents of East Orange, where Mr. Bentley's business interests call him. Bert Bentley, as we all take delight in calling him, is a thoroughbred Newton boy. When a youngster he took delight in winning prizes for fast swimming at Hopatcong lake as a member of the Presbyterian Sunday School. Then he scored high as a good baseball player, and when Bert was at the bat at a crucial stage in the game, everybody felt sure that the home team was to be a winner, and then he married a daughter of conductor Frank Whyms, easily one of Newton's best known and most esteemed citizens. Bert the son, is a student of Blair Academy while Patricia, the daughter of ten summers or thereabouts, is noted among Newton's fairest young misses. To lose such a charming family circle is a loss that Newton deeply recognizes. 1900 US Federal Census Enumerated June 19,1900 New Jersey / Sussex Co. / Newton town / Sheet 6 Ward 1 / Sup dist 3 / Enum dist 171 / James E.
