July 1859 (single in 1938) Three other children unknown. Cathy D. listed this obit May 1999 NJSussex: Located in the New Jersey Herald, Newton, NJ newspaper dated Thursday, 24 Feb 1938: JAMES S. SICKELS Stanhope correspondent - James S. Sickles passed away at his home Saturday night after an illness from Feb 9 at the age of 86 years. Death was due to apoplexy. Mr. Sickels was superintendent of Arlington cemetery for forty-eight years. Upon his retirement seven years ago, he came to Stanhope and built a home and has resided here since that time. Our correspondent talked with Mr. and Mrs. Sickels, a few days before he was taken ill, remarked that he was looking forward with much happiness to attending the anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo McKinney which was celebrated here on Friday, and acting as best man. Surviving Mr. Sickels are his wife, Mrs. Adele VANGAASBECK Sickles, a daughter, Mrs. Stanley Coppinger, of North Arlington, and one sister, Miss Ellen E. Sickles, of East Orange. Mr. Sickles was born in what is now known as Amity in Sussex County. Funeral services ...interment in Arlington Cemetery. Obits and cemetery for other children - do not have.
