    3. There has been considerable interest in "Smiths" lately. The information below is from a Canadian site and I've exerpted Smiths who came to Canada after the American Revolutionary war with New Jersey connections. There are more Smith families mentioned but not necessarily from N.J. Hope this helps. www.nornet.on.ca/~jcardiff Smith, Abraham (c. 1727-1809), born at Minisink, Orange County, New York lived during colonial times in South Precinct, Dutchess County then Goshen, Orange County. He was loyal to the Crown in the American Revolution and fled with his family during the war to Wantage, Sussex County, New Jersey. In 1786, he brought his family to Upper Canada and settled in Bertie Township, Welland County. In 1794, he moved to Charlotteville Township. Includes five generations of descendants. The full biography is in The Long Point Settlers Journal, Vol. 7, No. 4 ($6.00). Smith, Andrew (1790-1855) and his wife Rachel Hazen came from Belvidere, Mansfield Township, Warren County, New Jersey to Port Ryerse, Woodhouse Township about 1828. Includes three generations of descendants Smith, Hart (c. 1750-1835) served during the American Revolution in the New Jersey Volunteers then came to the Niagara Area of Upper Canada in 1784. He settled in Windham Township by 1809. Includes children Smith, Othniel (1743-1813) and his wife Elizabeth lived in Sussex County, New Jersey then in 1796 brought their family to Grimsby, Lincoln County, Upper Canada and finally settled in Charlotteville Township in 1798.
