    3. Hi Folks, There was still a lot of contention, border fighting, map redrawing and general mayhem in this time period. East and West Jersey lines were still being debated. Claims to lands in the new Sussex county were filed in East Jersey at Perth Amboy AND in West Jersey in Burlington. Later deeds in the Sussex County Clerk's office most often outline all the previous deeds, quit claims, etc. when the property changes hands again in the post 1785 period. Often you will find counter filings in both Perth Amboy and Burlington for the same land in Sussex. These usually resulted in court cases and evictions.
