Slaght, Hendrick (1704-1787) moved from Brooklyn, New York to New Jersey and married Hannah Sutton. They lived in Somerville then Roxbury County, New Jersey then latterly at Newton, Sussex County, NJ. Three of their sons moved to Upper Canada: Richard (1728) to Townsend Township by 1801 then Oakland Township, Brant County; James (c.1735-1799) to Stamford Township, Lincoln County; and Job (1745-1807) and his wife Elizabeth Johnson to Townsend Township in 1796. A grandson John Slaght (1763) and his wife Mary settled in Townsend Township by 1802.
