    3. Hi Folks. I've been focusing on Smith because, to be realistic, those researchers could use a break. This first item made no sense until I kept reading to the other columns marriage announcements... Stanohpe Eagle newspaper dated Weds. 21 Aug 1889 Lewis HAGGERTY of South Stanhope was arrested by constable D. L. BEST and after some hesitation, concluded to end the w(hull)e affair with a wedding. On 21st inst., at the bride's home, by J. H. Bissell Esq., Lewis HAGGERTY of South Stanhope to Miss Henrietta A. HULL of Stanhope. At the residence of the bride's parents, Park Hotel, Dover, by Rev. W. E. Blakelee, Mr. John H. BICKLEY Jr. to Miss Stella, daughter of Barton SMITH. Stanhope Eagle newspaper Weds. 23 Oct 1889 Mr. Daniel SICKELS, who was married on Weds. last, went to housekeeping right away in Mr. BEDFORD's house. SICKELS-HOLDEN - At the home of the bride's parents, 666 Main st., Paterson, on the 16th inst. by Rev. Mr. Robertson, Daniel W. SICKELS of Stanhope to Miss Evalynn HOLDEN. Stanhope Eagle Weds. 30 Oct 1889 - Amos SMITH died on Friday aged 83 years, 7 months, and 8 days. He was born in Tranquility on 15 Mar 1806, became a stone mason. Lived in Newton then mved to Stanhope in 1836, was married first to Hannah FIELDS, who died when their daughter, now Mrs. H. E. BELL of Newark, was only six weeks old. He was married secondly to Caroline H. WOODRUFF in 1834 having one son and three daughters: William M., Mrs. G.T. KNIGHT, Mrs. Harriet B. ROSE and Miss Helen. Amos was a founder of the M.E. church. Stanhope Eagle Weds. 27 Nov 1889 - Mrs. Sarah C., wife of Nathan SMITH, died Sunday aged 67 years. She was married first to Moses ALWARD, who died many years ago. Funeral at the Presbyterian church. Weds. 29 Jan 1890 - Rollie, youngest son of Elias SICKLES, had an accident leaving a gash over one eye. Weds. 5 Mar 1890 - Port Morris, Conductor Robert SICKELS is working again after an extended illness. .....and this one..... Weds. 26 Mar 1890 - The old horse of B. R. SISCO, of Pompton, which he had purchased at the age of three with the promise that he would keep it until it died, died recently aged 40 years, 3 months. Weds. 30 Apr 1890 - Judge Samuel T. SMITH and wife, lately the executor of Amos SMITH's will, are vacationing West to Yellowstone and California. Happy Ancestor Hunting, Cathy
