    3. There were a number of marriage announcements in the October 1, 1942 issue of the Sussex Independent. 3 of those appear in full on a photocopy that I have and are transcribed below: Sussex Independent, Thursday, October 1, 1942 Roof- Eliason - Miss Elsie Eliason, daughter of Mrs. Jennie Eliason, of Brooklyn, N. Y., was married September 19 to Augustus S. Roof, of Stillwater, in Stillwater Presbyterian Church, by Rev. F. Schell. The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Albert Straus. The bridesmaid was Miss Jennie Nelson, of Stillwater, and the best man was Robert Lantz, of Stillwater, now in the Army. The couple will reside in Stillwater. Sussex Independent, Thursday, October 1, 1942 Kymshym - Spears - Newton - Miss Norma Spears, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howand Spears, of Port Jervis, was married last Friday to Peter Kymshym, of Long Island, N. Y. The ceremony was performed by Recorder Charles L. VanNess in the town rooms in Spring Street. Witnesses were Miss Shirley Hunter, of Matamoras, Pa., and George H. Winslow, of Camp S-51, Branchville. Sussex Independent, Thursday, October 1, 1942 Green - Smith - Sparta - Miss Naomi Smith, daughter of Mrs. Laura Smith, and Frank Green, of the Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Green, were married Saturday evening by Rev. E. S. Ford. They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Edma Schaff. Mr. Green left October 1 for Richmond, Va. There were at least four other marriages in the paper, but my copy only shows the right-hand edge of each of 4 of those. As a result, even the names of the brides and grooms are not certain. One marriage is probably for a Shirley E. _____ to a Grover G. Smith. Another is for a groom with the last name ending in mble (perhaps a Kimble) and another for a groom with last name Hare or ending with Hare. Kirsten -- Open WebMail Project (http://openwebmail.org)
