My John Courtright (various spellings!) was b. 1774 NJ per Hanna's Historical Collections of Harrison Co.,OH. He married Mary CLARK 1797 in Sussex Co., NJ & had a daughter Sarah there in 1798. They then moved to Washington/Beaver Co.,PA & lived there until 1818 when they moved to Columbiana Co.,OH. In 1830 John was listed in the Smithfield, Jefferson Co.,OH census. His children (other than Sarah of which there is no further trace)were: 1.Jacob V. Courtwright b. c1799 Beaver Co.,PA. 1st wife unknown, 2nd wife Margaret possibly the widow of a Mr. Wellington. Jacob lived in Jefferson Co near his father until 1840 when he moved to Huron Co.,OH. He was still there in 1850. He lived near the WESTFALL & DECKER family, these families were also present in Jefferson/Carroll Co., OH near Jacob's father. Jacob's children : Unnamed daughter b. 1811-1820, John, Lydia, William & Jacob. 2. James Courtright b. 1802-1804 Beaver Co.,PA, died Aug 1834 of cholera in Beaver Co.,PA. Married Rebecca SNEARY 1825 Harrison Co.,OH. Children: Sarah (married Oliver BISHOP), Sidney Jane (married George W. RALSTON), Samuel (married Eleanor WHEELER), Finley (married mary MOORE), Hannah (married Charles SPEER), & Mary. 3. Judith b. 1805 Beaver Co.,PA married 1820 to Zibba NORRIS b. 1800 NJ. Children: John (married Prudence), & 4 daughters w/ only initials listed on the 1850 census. 4. Mary Courtright b. 1805 Beaver Co.,PA married Matthias SPRINGER 1825 & lived in Belmont Co.,OH. 5. William Courtright b. 1809 Beaver Co.,PA married 2x, 1st to Charlotte KELLY (d/o Jonathan Kelly & Sarah Kerrigan), 2nd to Mary SERGENT (possibly d/o Thomas Sergent & Naomi WESTFALL). Children: Charlotte, Olanthe & Mary. 6.Samuel b. 1808 Beaver Co.,PA. Married 1st to Frances ZOLLERS (d/o Frederick Zollers & Frances HAHN). Married 2nd to Mary widow of Mr. Stonebreaker. Children w/ 1st wife: James, Franklin (married to Rebecca), Zephaniah (married to May CREW), Vail (moved to IL), Mary Jane (married George W. Walcott) Ann Rebecca (married Thomas Penney), John (married Angeline), Sarah (married William CARRICK), William (married Mary E. McLaughlin), Joseph W. (married Letitia Burns,Laura A. Stedman), Agnes Melissa (married Wilson Lugar), Charles. Child w/ 2nd wife: Sue Ella. 7. Isaac Courtright b. 1814 Beaver Co.,PA married Sarah NORRIS b. 1802 NJ, widow of Benjamin WATSON. Children: James (married Barbara COOK, they also moved to Huron Co.,OH), Martha. 8. Milo Courtright b. 1821-1825 Columbiana/Jefferson Co., OH. Married at least 2x. 1st to Mary Skaggs, 2nd to Ann Elizabeth Davis. Children: Charles Milo & Leander. Milo moved to Columbia, Tuolumne, Ca by 1853, to Lewis And Clark County MT 1870-1880 & last found Coleville, Washington Territory where he died 3/17/1899. 9. Rebecca Courtright, b.2/28/1821 Centre Twp., Columbiana Co.,OH. Married 1840 to Justus KELLY (s/o Jonathan & Sarah Kerrigan Kelly), Justus & Rebecca died in Adams Co.,IN. Kelly Children: Charlotte (married Jesse McCollum), James (married Frances Abnet), Jonathan (married Mattie J. Rogers, Elizabeth Ruth Tharp), Martha, Mary (married J. Whitsel), Justice (married Etta Belle Rickner),& Alice.
