Several persons with the name Bohmer entered the port of Philadelphia from Germany. Beemer is the angelicized version of Bohmer. Wilhelm, Adam, Christ, Heinrich, Michael, Philippus, Peter, Jacob, Johannes, and Hendrich Beemer all appear in New Jersey records of the 1700's. Their relationship to each other has not been ascertained. Below is the sketchy information I have on several early Beemer families of the Sussex County, New Jersey area. Johan Philippus Beemer b. 8 Feb 1739 Germany is related to have come to the port of Philadelphia on the ship, Neptune, 23 Sept 1751. Also, in the same list was Johan Wilhelm Bohmer. However, this is doubtful, being twelve years of age he would not have signed the ship roster. Philip m. 18 Dec 1761 Anna Marie DeWitt b. 3 Mar 1747. They removed to the German Valley in Morris County, New Jersey in 1763 where they raised thirteen children. Perhaps sided with the British during the Revolution and then went to Canada with many thousands of other United Empire Loyalists in 1794. Philip d. 7 Dec 1811 and Anna d. 8 Oct 1811 at the home of their son, Henry in Waterford, Ontario, buried Waterford. 1. John Beemer b. 23 May 1763. 2. Mary Beemer b. 25 June 1764/68. 3. Johannes was b. 30 Oct 1700 son of Johann Henrich Bohmer and Anna Margaretha Hartenfal. Elisabetha Veronica Stadt was a daughter of Johann Henrich Stadt. The names of Johan Peter Bohmer and Johannes Bohmer are found on the passenger list of the ship "Two Brothers," which arrived at Philadelphia from Rotterdam, 28 Aug 1750, but this refers to two brothers who settled in another area. The Peter Beemer of this sketch immigrated perhaps 1749-53. Peter perhaps resided in German Valley (now Long Valley), Morris County, New Jersey where he meant and m. Elizabeth Hendershot daughter of Michael Hendershot (Henneschid, etc.) and Elizabeth Schermerhorn of German Valley. They perhaps resided there where some of their children were born before removing about 1763 to near Libertyville, Wantage township, Sussex County, New Jersey. The first Beemer that appeared in the Machackemeck Church records was an Adam Beemer who witnessed a baptism, 27 Mar 1763 at which date it would appear several members of the Beemer family removed into Wantage township.
