Sussex Independent newspaper dated Thurs. 26 Jan 1939 Mrs. Mary E. GARRIS Newton - Mrs. Mary E. GARRIS, eighty-two, died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs Clark HILL, of Fredon, Sunday. Mrs. Garris was the widow of Mason J. GARRIS, formerly of Millbrook. She was the daughter of Conrad and Keziah RIFENBURY WELTER. Surjviving are two sons, Abram GARRIS, of Columbia and George GARRIS, of Newton and three daughters, Mrs. Eleanor KITHCART, of Newton; Mrs Clark HILL, of Fredon and Miss Florence GARRIS, of New Rochelle. Funeral services were held Weds. at 2 p.m. from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hill. Rev. W. P. Sheen, pastor of the Newton M. E. Church, officiated. Burial was in Stillwater Cemetery.
