Hello List, My ANcestor James Hunt Bates did come from Newton New Jersey in the early 1800 I belive too. He settled in Glanford, Ont. He married a Susannah Smith, daughter of Jacob Smith. Does anyone on the list know of this family Bates, or anything about them. I am stuck with James but know him to be from Newton. Any help would be appreciated.
