As early as 1662 I find reference to a "Toomes Chambers, Surgeon" in the Kingston Church Records, but of course I have no idea if they are the same family that went to Sussex Co., NJ & then on to PA w/ my John Cortright. Also I asked abt the name VAIL, well I had completely forgotten abt the early VIELE family. I'm related to them through another line but don't have naything but the earliest record of them. Cornelis Volkertsen Viele married Maria Du Trieux c1639. The de Trieux/Truax family did migrate to NJ>PA>OH, so I'm sure the Vieles did too. I have 1 VAIL: Mary Vail married to John Schoonmaker b. 1830 Ulster co., NY I think. cindy
