    3. Hi Listers: Over the last year and a half I have transcribed the federal census for Sussex County, 1850 for inclusion in the Rootsweb archives on the CART program. All of the data is in my computer and 4 townships are installed on the internet. Two other townships are in the process of being proofread. The rules call for a party other than the transcriber to do the proofreading. I am anxious to finish this project so that I can make some changes in my computer. Hence, I am writing to ask if anyone would care to help with this very worthwhile effort by proofreading a township or two. There are 7 townships yet to be done. In order to do this, a volunteer must have access to the Sussex County, 1850 census microfilm and a film reader. I would send the volunteer a printout of the transcription and a stamped return envelope. The proofreader is to compare the printout to the actual census film and indicate omissions, errors, typos, mispelled names--any changes that will make the transcription more accurately comply with the actual film. When the corrections are returned to me, I will make the corrections to the data and forward the corrected copy for inclusion in the internet file. The volunteer will be credited in the census heading for the proofreading. Should you care to volunteer and have a preference with regard to a township, those townships remaining are: Vernon Lafayette Hardiston Sparta Wantage Frankford I would be very appreciative of any help that can be offered for, as I indicated previously, I am quite anxious to get this job out of the way.
