I especially enjoyed the section on the history of the Sussex Co. Court House. My Revolutionary ancestor, Capt. Conrad Gontterman, commanded guard over Continental prisoners on and off at the court house over the period of Jan. 27, 1777 - Dec. 20th, 1779 as well as serving in the Battle of Germantown, Elizabethtown, at Minisink and along the Delaware. He resigned from the Sussex Co. Militia in 1788. Viewing the picture of the first Court house I could imagine Conrad keeping guard at the jail/gaol door under the steps of the court house. Thanks again for sharing! Sheryl Gunderman Robinson
