I think baptisms were a community affair. Similar to family members bathing on the same day with one tub of water. Some questions to consider include... Did the church practice sprinkling or immersion? Were baptisms performed outside? Would the service be scheduled according to weather? farm work? flood levels? Would the service be delayed because of communicable illness in the community? What size area did the reverend serve? I searched for information on baptism history but couldn't find anything, maybe someone knows a source that could help.
