    3. I have been searching for relatives of my ancestor Ephraim JONES who married in 1773 in Middlesex County to Phoebe HARNED (both of Woodbridge) There is a family tradition that Ephraim had a brother who was a loyalist and returned to England. I have not found any other information on Ephraim in New Jersey. The family moved to Northumberland County PA before 1778. I found a Lawrence Jones who filed papers with the Kings Treasury in England. He stated he was a merchant in Sussex County, New Jersey and provided intelligence to the British until he was caught and his property seized. He should have been in Sussex County 1771-1777. I looked on the Tax Lists on Nancy Pascal's webpage and found the only Jones names in 1773/4 a Lion Jones in Knowltown and Francis Jones in Newtown. I also found on Jan Reuther's page that Lion Jones was a merchant. Also in looking at some of the families in Knowlton, NJ in the tax lists some of the names: Insley, Drake, Harned are very common in Woodbridge NJ earlier. So perhaps Lawrence came from Woodbridge. If anyone could provide me any information on Lawrence or Lion Jones I would be most grateful. Sandy
