Well, had I done a little more research I would have answered my own Question and known I was on the wrong trail. William L. Smith married Nancy McKee May 24 1823. (Sussex County Marriages by Howard Case). The son's name was William Marshall. He apparently went by Marshall in 1850 and William in 1860. I guess William's parents will remain a mystery awhile longer. Peggy Pharris TN
