Sussex Independent, Dec. 25, 1903: "Silas Storms, one of the oldest and best known residents of Vernon township died at his home about two miles from Vernon, on the Stockholm road, on Sunday, December 20th. Mr. Storms was in his eighty-fourth year, and is survived by his wife and five children: Jacob J., proprietor of the Union Hotel at Hamburg; Albert, living on the homestead; Susan, wife of James E. Edsall, of McAfee; Emma, wife of Michael Grannard, of Vernon; and Abbie, wife of George Kimble of Paterson. Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 10:30 at the house. Interment at Warwick.:
