I found more on yesterday's story from the trial 24 May 1880..... The courts determined that the two men (Campbell & Kane) took the life of a young man (Melancthon Washer) just in the prime of life whose widowed mother depended upon to look after her business affairs...the court hopes the young men obey the rules of prison and conduct themselves in such a manner that their sentence is considerably lessened for good behavior.... This should also be a warning to other young men in our midst to keep out of bad company and from roaming the streets at night in the company of dissolute women (like Amanda Snover) Clarence Campbell and Peter Kane were sentenced to twelve years, John Clark was acquitted. Obviously "Judge Judy" was not hearing that case.... Cathy DiPietro vdpcom@warwick.net listowner: NJSussex
