    1. [NJSUSSEX-L] Re: Houghs in Sussex Co, 1700s and 1800s
    2. Hi Linda, and all other Sussex Co. researchers, I'm real interested in any HOUGHs from Sussex Co. in the 1700s and 1800s. I'm still trying to tie down my elusive 3rd Great-Grandfather, John HOUGH, allegedly born in Schooleys Mts. around 1740, emmigrated to Wantage Township after the American Revolution and, also allegedly, died in 1835 or 1836, possibly in Branchville. I'm seriously considering the possibility that my John Hough is not English, as the family lore suggests, but perhaps German, possibly a Palatine. I'm open to any and all suggestions! Warm regards, Marilyn Hough Stern (writing to you from Austin, TX--however, my dad was born in Sussex in 1921) In a message dated 9/3/00 5:48:16 PM Central Daylight Time, lpatt@worldnet.att.net writes: << Researching Elizabeth HOOEY, born about 1786, probably in Sussex County, NJ, married Richard LYONS in 1811 Sussex County, New Jersey. This family moved to Ohio about 1817, and then migrated on to Indiana about 1823. Would love to hear from anyone with related families. Linda Patterson lpatt@att.net >>
