Sussex Independent, Friday, July 13, 1900: "Jacob Sharp Hiles, one of the best known farmers in Sussex County, died at his home near Beaver Run, on Wednesday night of this week, after a long illness, from a complication of diseases. Mr. Hiles has been in ill health for nearly a year, and his death was not unexpected. Mr. Hiles was a son of William and Mary (Banghart) Hiles, and was born in the vicinity of Beaver Run, near where he has always resided. He was aged 63 years and 23 days. He was a conscientious, upright citizen, and has always held the respect and esteem of all who knew him. He followed the vocation of a farmer and was successful. Mr. Hiles was twice married. His first wife was Bulah, daughter of the late Hosea J. Harden. His second wife was Amelia Dennis, daughter of the late Joseph Dennis. He is survived by his last wife and one daughter, May B., the latter being by his first marriage. The funeral will be held at the house on Saturday at 11 o'clock a.m. Interment at Frankford Plains."
