Howdy Folks, Here's some tidbits I found in the NJ Herald Weds. 21 June 1899 Eliza SMITH died on the 15th inst., aged 75 years, at her home near Centreville. Mrs. Smith was the widow of the late Phillip Smith and leaves of her immediate family seven sons and two daughters, Elias, of Missouri; Jacob, of Nebraska; Anson, of Pennsylvania; Julius, of Newark; John, of Branchville; Emma, of Easton; Elizabeth, of Stillwater; Allen and Edwin at home. The funeral was held at the Reformed church at Peters Valley on 17th inst. Interment in Peters Valley Cemetery. Dr. John KELLEY, who was proprietor of the Brick House, has a well-appointed hotel and resturant in Milford near the Court House. Everything is first class and perfect accomodations for all. He has a large trade from Sussex and is glad to meet his Jersey friends. Urban ABER, of Hainesville, had the misfortune to loose eight of his sheep by lightening during the shower last Thursday. They were under a tree when it was struck. Several cases of measles are reported in the vicinity of Hainesville. Some of the afflicted children took part in the Children's day exercises on the 11th at Hainesville. Miss Bertha STOLL, one of our Sandyston teachers, will on the 19th inst. leave for an extended visit to her sister, Mrs. Collins BROWN, of Massachusetts. Joseph HORNBECK has an old fashioned "raising" last Saturday to get the frame for his new barn on his Sandyston farm in position. Floyd E. WILLIAMS, of West Pittston, Pa., was a visitor to Sandyston on business last week. Mrs. Ella STEIBIG will return home this week from the city to spend the summer. Ex-freeholder Joseph C. WARNER has the finest crop of onions in the valley. Hay will not be more that half a crop this year in the valley. John SIGLER, Sr. visited New York last week on business.
