Dear List, After years of searching I'm still in the dark over the origin of my first name: Laurence, which is spelled with a "U". My father had the same name and upon research I've found at least two other LANCE men with the same spelling. Died Ca. >From Ohio: Ancestry.com shows the Ohiop 1910 Census for Laurence Lance, age 26 Montgomery, Dayton Enum. 0062 Wife Matilda 34 Ohio - Ok, he likes older women Son Mathias 12 ( which makes his dad 14 at the age of the son's birth ???  BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE ... This doesn't make much sense to me. There must be much more to this than meets the eye.
