Marsha, I've read several articles regarding the history of western New York, particularly the finger lakes area. My ancestors Ezra DeGarmo and Peter DeGarmo were among those who moved from Sussex County, NJ to Tyre, NY during the 1790's. They moved with Stephen Crane, who was likewise from Sussex County. The father of Ezra and Peter, Paul DeGarmo (1737-1820) left Sussex County, NJ around 1800 and moved westward to Randolph County, VA (now WV). If you haven't done so you may also want to check Randolph County, VA for missing relatives as there were several families who left Sussex County, NJ and went there around 1800. Bill DeGarmo
