He has been interested in genealogy since 1981 when he gave his seventh grade Social Studies class an assignment to trace their family and he started to trace his own family. He was very interested in local history and government. Bob was appointed by Governor Carey to the Board of Trustees of Washington's Headquarters in 1977 and served for 10 years. He served on the town board of Wallkill for 16 years and was supervisor when the clean up and dedication of the Pine Hill Cemetery occurred. Bob has published two books on the records and people of the Wallkill area. Most recently Bob has been dedicating himself to compiling as much information as possible about black families of Orange County. He spends countless hours entering information into a database. The program will include The 1870 Census; 1790-1830 Census, black free heads of household; Marriages in Orange County 1908-1928; and the Genealogy of a number of different Orange County families.
