Matthias and Betsy Hayward lived in Byram Twp., Sussex Co., NJ from the 1820 census through the 1840 census. By the 1850 census they were in Morgan Co., IN but were no longer listed in 1860. I recently found out that Betsy was Elizabeth Anderson. She lived in Roxbury Twp. (possibly a town called New Market, later called Drakesville) of Morris Co., NJ. She married Matthias Hayward in New Market on Nov. 28, 1813. They were married by the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Sucassunna, but I have been told that the church records have disappeared for this time period. Is anyone on the list working on Andersons or Haywards in Sussex Co., NJ in the early 1800's? I have found evidence that many of the Haywards in the area also used the surname Howard. I would like to find the parents and siblings of both Matthias and Betsy. Barbara Montgomery
