    3. Many NJ families moved to Upstate NY after the Rev. War. It was still frontier land and some got military bounty land. Many Rev War vets from NJ, had been through the area with Sullivan on his march through the area against the Iroquois and saw the rich farm land. Others followed neighbors, friends, family looking for better opportunities. There are instances where neighborhoods in that area of NY were filled with the same surnames you find in NJ. My own family came from Sussex County, NJ and I have found it fascinating to see the make up of the NJ neighborhoods and how they will almost mirror neighborhoods that were established in the Finger Lakes. Some of my Frazer families moved there in the early 1800's I also find Decker and Buckley surnames there. Anyone know why? Thanks Char >
