"Infant" (ca1819-ca1819) The first seven or eight children were apparently born in New Jersey, the rest in Fayette County Pennsylvania. In1809: Stephen & Mary & family moved to Pennsylvania from Sussex Co NJ a distance of 350 miles. According to one early family history, shortly after arriving at Uniontown, Mary got word that one of her relatives was very sick in New Jersey and rode back to NJ on horseback all alone in the wilderness. Mary would have been 36 years old at that time with three children under age 6, one of those a babe in arms. Still, she had an older daughter who could have cared for them. 1823: Smith family moves to Meigs Co Ohio. Carolyn "Remember, you have a friend in Oklahoma!"
