Slaght, Hendrick (1704-1787) moved from Brooklyn, New York to New Jersey and married Hannah Sutton. They lived in Somerville then Roxbury County, New Jersey then latterly at Newton, Sussex County, NJ. Three of their sons moved to Upper Canada: Richard (1728) to Townsend Township by 1801 then Oakland Township, Brant County; James (c.1735-1799) to Stamford Township, Lincoln County; and Job (1745-1807) and his wife Elizabeth Johnson to Townsend Township in 1796. 3. http://blackader.library.mcgill.ca/countyatlas/default.htm ... this is another Canadian site that lets you search surnames, tells you what township that person owned land and in most cases, shows you on a map where they owned the property. It's not for the earliest generations, but may help in identifying subsequent ancestors. Good luck.

    2. Possibly there is another brother of Christina's on the database named d-s-salmon, by Dean Everett SALMON. It is just listed as SMITH, who married a REEVE. But they were married in Mt. Olive, NJ. Maybe close, not necessarily awarded a CIGAR. He seems to have input Christina SMITH as SMITH Christina. I mean, that her first name is listed as her last name on his database. Had you seen that one too. Has CASKEY on it too. Pat cw

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone. 2. William and Christina are on rootsweb.com database of Carolyn and Bill Montgomery dated 7 30 2006. Called Oldtimer's Corral. Database number OLDTIMER. There are also several others who have this couple on their database. One of them does seem to have parents for William. However, I did notice on one of the databases by Kathy DAVIS, called KATDAVINE, there is a Jacob SMITH who had a son, Christopher. Christopher and Christina are close. Jacob married Rebecca JONES. He died in Morris, NJ. Possibly she was his daughter. Again, I apologize, you probably have already read through all of these, too. Sorry, once more. 2. Hi Mary I was being sort of forward, with you, in possibly not assuming that you have already collected some of the children of Stephen and Mary from RootsWeb.com. And that you have verified the information on them with those individual researchers? Sorry, did not mean to come off sounding so righteous. I think that your John Axford, B: 1802 is also on another database on RootsWeb.com. I just kind of spot checked for you. They might also be related in a round a bout way to the SMITH Family of Joseph SMITH and Rachel ALFRED, who are the parents of Rebecca SMITH who married John MILLS B: ca 1733 Sussex Co. NJ, too. There is said that about 4 of Rebecca's brothers also moved along with them to Ontario, Canada. Not necessarily in the same exact year, but did move to them. 3. Pat, Thank you for your info on Sickles. I have found additional info. The 1900 Census lists Annie M. Struble 4 children/3 living; married 18 yrs (about 1882). I found Anna Struble in Newton Cem records at Sept 1932. When I can get to the Archives I look for a death certificate, because no plot was listed. Isaac Struble listed, born Nov 1830, NJ. Earlier Census lists his mother as Jane Struble, wd. Isaac Died in 1907 , plot 35 in Newton Cem. George Sickles is in plot 35, Newton Cem. In the census it is Sickles/Sickels. His family spells the name as Sickles. That is what I could find before Cem. ofc closed today. I did not find an Obit for Anna Struble in NJ Herald or Sussex Cty Independent. The wife and child of George is listed in my original post. This would make the death of George R. Sr. before 1882. Karen, NJ

    3. Karen, Thank you for sharing this. I did quickly check my folder about the marriage of Hugh McDanold Struble. It is listed on the marriage return for Andover for 1 July 1876-1 July 1877. Date May 30, year looks like 1871, probably the top of the 7 just doesn't show. The marriage took place in Stanhope with Rev. Mr. Crane of Stanhope officiating. Hugh McD Struble residence Andover is listed as a single 27 year old physician. His parents aren't listed. Emma McConnell, the bride, is listed as 18 and single, parents A. C. McConnell. That is for Aaron C. McConnell. Then elsewhere I have listed Emma as Mary E McConnell. She had a sister Eliza J and an older half brother George who died abt 1854. I have Eliza J McConnell b Feb 1858 and Mary Struble, widow b July 1859 living in Orange County in 1900. I have no idea whether this Mary E Struble is the same one who witnessed the Hosking - Struble marriage later. I can't remember whether Mary Emma and Hugh had children. I have thought that if they didn't, it would be nice to found out what happened after both had died. I have never figured out who all the siblings of their father Aaron were and thought it would be nice to find probate records listing them. It will take me a little while to look through my old notes, which is why I have left that for last. 3. Does anyone know who the parents of Christine Smith are? Christina Smith was born ca 1765, possibly Warren-Sussex area. She died March 1, 1833 in Mt Olive Twp, Morris Co, just outside the Warren & Sussex Counties. It's possible she lived in the Warren-Sussex Co area before moving to Mt Olive Twp. She married William Caskey - b. ca 1760; died April 25, 1818 in Mt Olive Twp, Morris Co. William has a brother Robert Caskey that fought in the Rev War and is buried in the old Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Hackettstown. If anyone has any information on the parents of either of these people, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Sue
