    2. Bill, The 'Elias Van Bunschooten" Museum is open May 15 to Oct 15, Thurs. & Sat., 1-4PM. Their address is Route 23, Wantage Township, Sussex Co., NJ 17461. I don't know if they have any genealogical records on site but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to write and ask. Another avenue may be to write to the Sussex Co. Historical Society at 82 Main Street, P.O. I'd say Sussex County was/is kind of the "vacation" spot with it's lakes/etc. The Morris Canal went thru both counties (didn't it?) so there were common commercial interests. People who lived near the borders would intermingle. Not sure why this would be considered "unusual". Rich in NH

I would like to compare this list with the list of records microfilmed by the LDS. Thanks PENNYPEACE@prodigy.net >> Penny: I'm somewhat confused by your question. If you were looking at the original records which were microfilmed, why would you want to compare it to a published list of records? The only thing that may be different would be the published version may take it beyond the filming of the records. The next question is this. What records were you looking at that was filmed by Salt Lake? Birth, Marriage, Death? Or other records? Your statement above didn't indicate what it was that you were reviewing? Perhaps some clarification needs to be made. If you want a published book on Sussex County Marriages, there is one available from Heritage Boks, Inc. by Howard E. Case. It only covers Book A and B of the Sussex County Marriages which is probably what you were reviewing on microfilm. If you really want the originals, you need to go to Sussex County. All the marriage entries are on scraps of paper in a file drawer in the basement. The Book A and B is a transcription from these scraps of paper. It is typewritten pages in a 3-ring binder in the same room which saves you time in looking through the scraps. If you are looking for mortgages, deeds, and probates, that is another issue entirely. For those, the county courthouse would be your best source of getting a copy of the index page to the grantor/grantee deed and mortgage books. The same thing for probates. Going to your local family history center and looking under Sussex County New Jersey you will see what the FHL has microfilmed. Hope this helps you a bit better, but it would help in the future if your message which is posted to the list would be a bit clearer. By that I mean, state what records you were reviewing on microfilm and what it is that you want to compare it to if you are looking for a published source for the same thing. That way, your answer will be specific rather than general. Christie Trapp
