    1. [NJSUSSEX-L] Addition to my web site
    2. Jan Reuther
    3. Hi, folks... I've added another page to my web site. In 1804, under pressure mostly from Quakers, New Jersey began to gradually abolish slavery. Any child born to a slave in the state was to be registered, and at the age of 21 (females) or 25 (males), the child was to be freed. A listing of slaves born and registered, and their owners, in Sussex and Warren Counties from 1804 to 1833 can be found at http://RAUB-and-more.com/slavebirths.html Jan Reuther http://RAUB-and-more.com

    1. [NJSUSSEX-L] Home page...
    2. Mark Forder
    3. Hello Everyone, I'm currently in the process of revamping my home page and would like to ensure that all of you can get to it if you want to. Here is a temporary link to it... http://home.att.net/~mforder/homepage.htm It's not completely finished and needs some modifications but it's pretty close. Also, if you have a page that you would like me to add to my "Links" page please forward the address and name of it to me. It's a 2 frame page and if you cannot get to it that means that I'll have to create a seperate non-frames page, please let me know if this happens. One other note the page has a darker background image so that you can read the lighter colored text, if you don't see tha background please let me know also. Thanks, ---Mark

    1. [NJSUSSEX-L] ROSS from Hardyston/Holland Mtn.
    2. boyanowski
    3. Hi, This is my first posting, so I hope I have done everything correctly. Looking for information on the ROSS families from the Holland Mountain area. Looking for parents and siblings of Daniel/Donald ROSS born abt 1804 in Hardyston Twp. He married Mary Ellen PREDMORE daughter of Daniel PREDMORE III. Daniel/Donald ROSS could be the son of William F. ROSS. Also would like to know if there is a list of the Holland Mtn. Cemetery. I assume that it is a family cemetery and not affiliated with a church. It may be the one listed in the deed of Daniel/Donald ROSS. I have found other family members there (PAULISON, TALMADGE, WILLIS,). I would love to contact other ROSS family descendants. Thank you. Sherre Lockburner Boyanowski

    1. [NJSUSSEX-L] Old Hardwick Cemetery
    2. Derek Frantists
    3. Hello All: Is anyone familiar with the above mentioned cemetery? I understand it is between Stillwater and Blairstown on County Rte 521, Sussex NJ. An ancestor JAMES CLENDENNING resided on 200 acres of land that crossed over from Knowlton Twp to Hardwick Twp at the time of the Revolution. He and his family sided with the British and ended up in Niagara Canada. My hope is that there could be some lead to his brothers/sisters or parents who may have been Patriots and stayed. I know he had a brother, who is actually my lineage, JOHN and he ended up in Canada as well! This man I have no record of other than from NJ, possibly Middlesex Co. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Derek in Hamilton Canada
