Could SKS find the obituary for Wilbur DREW (b. 6 Oct. 1885; died 3 Feb. 1918), Sussex Co.? He was the son of Ira DREW and Josephine CRABTREE of Vernon. I would be interested in knowing if he was married? And if so, who was his wife and when and where did she die and where buried? Wilbur was buried in North Church Cemetery, Sussex County. Wilbur had two sisters: Edna L. DREW, b. Aug. 1882 and Edith M. DREW born Nov. 1883. Their mother died in 1898 and their father raised them. Can anyone help with additional information on these two girls? Thanks. Mona in Indiana
Can anyone shed any light as to who Peter Bross MOTT was? His parentage. He died 1937 at age 69.10.14 and buried in North Church Cemetery. If someone might have a copy of his obit, it would be most appreciated. Mona, in Indiana
Does anyone who might live in the Sussex Co., NJ area, know if there are detailed records from the North Church Cemetery? Is there a records keeper and address where one might write for information? Any help appreciated. Thanks. Mona in Indiana
I don't see a response from Nancy or Cathy...but I'd be happy to put this list on my site. I have some curiosity about it. Was helping do some campaigning for a woman running for Niagara County, NY judge...and we were going through lists of registered Democrats, etc. I was amazed how many Warren County names showed up. I wonder if it's just coincidence, or if some families came back to the U.S. after things settled down, or if relatives moved to be close to the exiles without leaving the U.S. Jan Reuther ----- Original Message ----- From: "montrose" <montrose@ptdprolog.net> To: <NJSUSSEX-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 02, 2000 12:55 PM Subject: [NJSUSSEX-L] 48 Loyalist families to Canada > Hi, > > Ron Cox graciously sent me the list of the 48 families "Return of Families" who arrived at Niagara in 1787. Hi, Folks... Thanks to the generosity of Mary Ellen Payne, I have now added the above Cemetery, located one mile south of Hope, to my web site. You can see it at http://raub-and-more.com/swayzecem.html Bob Lanterman also sent me additions to the Cedar Ridge Cemetery listing. Surnames added or affected are: Barret, Bobo, Harris, Hoyt, Jones and, of course, Lanterman. Jan Reuther

John M. SLOAT is in the 1840 Census for Sussex Co., in 'Hardisten'. My ancestor is Judith SLOAT b 6 April 1764 probably in NY. She was married to Stephen MASTERS in Hardiston 9/16/1783 by Ludwick Hoglan, JP. Is anyone searching SLOAT or know who John M.'s parents may be? Thought perhaps he is a nephew or some relation to my Judith. OR does anyone know if there might be any JP records at a genealogical or history society in Sussex Co. While looking for Jerri's Abraham I ran across quite a few of them. I have Abraham P. Kortright, b. 1724 to Pieter H. Kortright & Mary Van Garden. Abraham P. was born in Rochester according to Hoes & the Smithfield RDC records give a marriage date of Sep 18, 1747 to Cornelia Bunschoten. I have no kids for this marriage. I then find an Abraham P. Kortright & Rebecca QUICK (b. 1742 Smithfield, PA to Thomas Quick & Rachel EMMONS) having these kids bap. in NJ : Rachel 1765, Abraham 1772, & Resyna 1783. Is this the same Abraham & did he have children w/ Cornelia? Thanks, Cindy
I'm forwarding this as a favor to the person who sent it to me. Although I have a vague CORWIN connection to my HAYCOOK/HAYCOCK line, I AM NOT researching the name. Please respond directly to Jen and/or Mike whose email addresses are below. Have a great holiday weekend - don't labor. Howdy All, I will be visiting NJ again in September and I wanted to find Shotwell Burying ground and Harmony Hill Cem. If anyone has a fairly decent set of directions to either or both I'd appreciate the help. Also, a general question. When writing to a church to inquire about what records they hold, Who would you address it to? The Sexton? Thanks, April
Could someone with access to newspapers of Sussex County, send me the obit of William CRABTREE, who died 2 November 1892 at his home in Vernon of an overdoes of strychnine. And if there were any notes in the paper concerning his fight with his wife (Martha A.) about one week prior to his death. He may have spent some time in jail. And yes, he is an allied member of my family. Thanks. Mona in Richmond, IN
