Seeking parents of JOHN JORDAN born 6 Mar 1764 perhaps in Sussex Co.. He died 26 Jan 1850 Pike, Wyoming Co, NY, but buried in family lot in Friendship, Allegany Co., NY. He married 15 Sep 1785 probably in or near Goshen, Orange Co., NY Julia SWARTOUT born 18 Nov 1769 daughter of Jacobus SWARTOUT who before and during the Revolution lived in Sugar Loaf which is now in town of Chester, Orange Co., NY but then in town of Warwick, Orange Co., NY. Following children born to John and Julia: Michael 1786 in Orange Co; William 1788; Jesse 1790; James 1791; John 1792; Andrew; 1795; Betsey 1797; Isaiah; 1799; Sally (Patty) 1801; JACOB 1803; Julia Margaret 1805; Unnamed son 1807 at which time Julia probably died because she does not appear in 1810 census. John/Julia do not appear in the 1790 census of NYS in their own home with two sons nor have I found them in PA, NJ or any N.E. state. By 1800, JORDAN family residing in Cherry Valley, Otsego Co., NY. From there, Michael, William and Jesse settled in and died in Steuben Co. James and John settled town of Cuba, Allegany Co., NY; Isaiah, after living with his brother, Michael in Steuben Co., migrated on to Allegany Co and he and brothers Andrew and JACOB settled in town of Wirt of Allegany Co., NY. Betsey (Elizabeth) Jordan married Sebastion WELLER and lived in Canajoharie, Montgomery Co., NY. Sally married John DYGERT and lived in Montgomery Co, NY. Julia Margaret married Charles PHELPS, migrated to Pike, Wyoming Co. and it was at her home that JOHN died in 1850. In 1840, JOHN JORDAN is still residing at Cherry Valley but by 1848 has migrated to town of Wirt and because he died before 1850 census was taken, it has been family tradition that he lived with his son, JACOB, but his will probate states he died at home of his daughter in Wyoming Co. ANY help would be appreciate on these above mentioned families.... Ruth Jordan Thoden RuthThoden@aol.com

Hi Jan, I am not sure who posted regarding the Houghs. Jeanne Massey did extensive research on this family a few years ago. Her email address is: mview16@aol.com J. Thanks to all that responded. It looks like ancestry.com has the best online source. My local LDS FHC is closed for another week so this will help in the meantime. Thanks, Cindy

A palatine is anyone who was born or lived in the Palatinate; which is a section of Germany generally east of the Rhine River. Hi Folks, I've been researching KINNEYBROOK/KENNEYBROOK for some time now, thinking that since the name seems to be of English origin, they were from England. I have heard now of many names, ( i.e. BEEMER/BOEHMER and HOUGH) that were German in origin, I may be wrong. Could they have been German or even Dutch from New Amsterdam? The first mention of one here in NJ is a KENNEBROOK in 1800. And, what is a Palatine? Anne Stephens in a wet New Jersey Researching, KINNEYBROOK, CLAY and TEBO
Hi Linda, and all other Sussex Co. researchers, I'm real interested in any HOUGHs from Sussex Co. in the 1700s and 1800s. I'm still trying to tie down my elusive 3rd Great-Grandfather, John HOUGH, allegedly born in Schooleys Mts. around 1740, emmigrated to Wantage Township after the American Revolution and, also allegedly, died in 1835 or 1836, possibly in Branchville. I'm seriously considering the possibility that my John Hough is not English, as the family lore suggests, but perhaps German, possibly a Palatine. I'm open to any and all suggestions! I am looking for the parents Hiram Transue. He married Abbie Ann Shay about 1860. She died in 1869. He then married Emma Rutan. I am also looking for his grave. Abby Ann is buried in a cemetery in Walpack. Judy
This marriage of William COTAUCK, does anyone know who this is? Could it be a very bad spelling of Cortright? Thanks, Cindy http://www.gate.net/~pascalfl/colmarr.html COTAUCK, WILLIAM WILLIAMSON, SARAH 08 DEC 1773

WESTFALL, David of Wantage. 1036S - W. 2 Jan 1804; Filed 24 Feb 1804. Wife: Pheby. Son: Simeon. Daughters: (3) Margaret, Anna and Talicha (sic). Executors: Wife, Pheby and son, Simeon WESTFALL. Witnesses: John MIDDAUGH, William YOUNG and Benjamin MIDDAUGH. ** Could this Simon WESTFALL be the Simon who married Esther Brink & moved to Huron Co., OH by 1850? He had at least 2 daughters Jane in 1806 who married Peter DECKER, & Lydia Jane b. 1809. In 1850 These folks lived next door to Jacob V. Courtirght (b. 1799 s/o my John) & Jacob's 2nd wife margaret, Jacob's children by first wife were John, Lydia, Jacob, William. It's possible that Jacob V. Courtright was first married to Lydia Jane Westfall, but that is a real "hunch." Meanwhile the children of Abraham Westfall b. 1755 & married to Blandina Van Etten was living near my John Courtright's other children back down in Carroll Co., OH. Does anyone know the relationship between these two Westfall families? Thanks, Cindy
Hi, Folks... Thanks to J. Kelsey Jones, I now have this list on my web site at http://RAUB-and-more.com/loyalists.html Jan Reuther
Jan & Others Cross check those names with surnames listed in William Clinton Armstrong's book The Benjamin Lundy Family & Associated lines. A copy of which can be found at Genealogy .com's Genealogy Library. If you use FTM easier to access thru their online access thru the program.
