I'm sure the one Rick is talking about is the 'Old' Beemerville Cem. Nancy NilesRick@aol.com wrote: > > Greetings, > > If I may, my two cents worth on the Beemerville Cemetery(s). I'm not sure if this would be the 'old' one or the 'new' one. I didn't look for or find a second cemetery. The cemetery was overgrown by grass but not much brush. The iron gate through the stone wall surrounding the cemetery faced the road and it looked like it hadn't been opened in weeks if not months (lots of tall grass growing through it). The most recent markers I saw were from about 1905 with most from before 1850. I'm curious if anyone knows who 'owns' this cemetery. It looks like it is slowly fading away. > > Rick Novak

Sharon --- I am also very interested in the connection, but don't have much to add. I think that Harriet Myers may be Harriet Teel. Harriet Teel married Abijah Myers in 1827. Abijah Myers died in the 1840's. I haven't requested a copy of his will, although I believe it was filed. I think Chaulkey is the son of Abijah. According to the 1850 census, there was a Bartley or Barkley Myers, who was born in Germany, I think. I am not sure of the relationship. I believe they all tie to Jacob Myers and Sarah Cortright, but unfortunately have no proof. There was an Arvilla Myers, who married Cornelius Warner. My understanding was that they went to Sussquehanna County, PA. Your Arvilla Myers is interesting, because the other Arvilla was supposedly a daughter of Josias Myers. If your ARvilla was a daughter of Abijah, then we would have cause to wonder if ARvilla was the first name of one of the grandmothers. Is anyone researching the Hull Family of Sussex County? I am trying to identify the family of Olive Hull b. abt 1783, who married Peter Mains. In 1850, she was living with John Hull, who was 73 years old. I believe that he was Olive's brother. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks. Patrice Houck Schadt
Greetings, If I may, my two cents worth on the Beemerville Cemetery(s). I visited Beemerville in late August during our annual trip back east from CA to visit family. My recollection from visiting numerous cemeteries in Sussex County about two years ago is that there is a "New" and an "Old" Cemetery in Beemerville. The "Old" one was not well maintained when I was there. There Beemer Meeting House Cemetery is not located in Beemerville, but just off of Rt. 565 on the road that goes to Beemerville. I drove past it several times without seeing it. It sits up off the road on the left side as you travel west toward Beemerville. The gate to the cemetery opens into the back yard of a relatively new house. I was under the impression that the Beemer Meeting House once stood in on the property where the house is. The cemetery had been run down and overgrown at one time, but has had some repairs in recent years. There were some grave stones lined up along the wall and some were lying flat on the ground. Some had been repaired. This cemetery is located in the vicinity of the area marked on some maps as Pellettown, named presumably for Obadiah Pellett was a large landowner in Sussex County. It took me several trips to Sussex County before I finally found this cemetery. I hope this helps someone. Ted Nichols Researching the Pellett / Pellet family in Sussex County
I have Isaac Losey b: 1781 marrying his 4th wife Harriet Myers Isaac and Harriet's daughter Mary married Chaukley Myers Isaac's son Cyrus (from Isaac's 1st wife Eleanor) married Tryphena Myers Isaac's daughter Susan (from 2nd wife Elizabeth Warner) married Barkley Myers Thats Isaac and 3 of his children marrying Myers. This is a genealogists nightmare! Or maybe I've just mistyped somewhere.Does anyone know the relationship between these Myers? I have just ordered Tryphena's obituary to hopefully find her parents. Any and All help appreciated!! sharon (:o)
> Nancy, What is the name of the cemetery that is supposed to be behind the > Space Center? Carole, I'm not sure there is one. I have a copy of Hagstrom's Atlas for Sussex Co., NJ and it only shows The Beemerville Cem. which is across the street and just slightly north of Space Farms Museum, directly behind what is now the Beemerville Ch. I know from my visit, just south of this same cemetery, and just across the street from Space farms on a little side road is the Old Beemerville Cem. (which I just posted at my web site). This one does not appear on my map. THe Beemer Church Cemetery posted in GMNJ, Vol. 6, may be the first one I mentioned, but it says it was copied in 1929. My Jacob Gould died in 1903 and he and his family are not listed in these inscriptions. It's a mystery to me. Also, according to my Atlas, Rt. 637 is referred to as Beemer Church Road but no cemeteries are indicated. Nancy Pascal http://www.gate.net/~pascalfl/
Hi, folks... I've added baptisms and lists of communicants and confirmations for this church for the years 1770 to 1782. You can see them beginning at http://raub-and-more.com/straw/strawbap1.html There are more records, but I need to get back to the downtown library to get them. However, in the meantime, I've received close to 100 pages of cemetery listings in the mail from another Warren County researcher, and getting those typed and up on the web is my next priority. no need to bother, they yanked the website.
That was pretty quick action. I'm impressed! Cindy ----- Original Message ----- From: "David A. Henry" <dah1@gte.net> To: <NJSUSSEX-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, September 11, 2000 3:59 PM Subject: [NJSUSSEX-L] family discovery.com > no need to bother, they yanked the website. > >
Dear Listmembers, Here is a heads-up about a company alledgedly mining existing web sites and charging 49.95 for access. I believe my own personal web site has been duplicated by them. I have also been personally "junk mailed" by this firm. This is a one-time informational message - please, there is no need to discuss this on the regional lists. You may contact me with questions or comments at vdpcom@warwick.net and I will pass on any additional pertinent information. Hello List! Have been brickwalled on a family for many years now and since going online a short while back I have been searching and searching for info on them. It is now time to post to the "experts" and hopefully someone will recognize the names. Am searching for a JAMES OSBORN(E) and his wife ASENATH BRADY. According to LDS, JAMES was born 13 Aug 1748/1750 Orange Co, Ny. Asenath BRADY appears to have been born Abt1752 in Orange Co.NY Married:1773 Orange Co, Ny Parents names unknown. This family was found in Luzerne County, PA 1800 Census. Information states they moved from NY to Sussex County, NJ where it appears their children were born: James 1774, John 1776/77, William 1778, Peter 1780, Henry 1782, Hannah 1784, Polly/Mary 1786, Betsey aka Lydia Elizabeth (born 1788 but this must be an error She had her first child in 1797). Do these names sound familiar to anyone? Can anyone tie them into an Osborne family in those areas? Any help, info or direction would be greatly appreciated! Well, had I done a little more research I would have answered my own Question and known I was on the wrong trail. William L. Smith married Nancy McKee May 24 1823. (Sussex County Marriages by Howard Case). The son's name was William Marshall. He apparently went by Marshall in 1850 and William in 1860. I guess William's parents will remain a mystery awhile longer. Peggy Pharris TN
I have two Smith lines. One has had me stumped for 20 years. I have a William Smith who was born @July 1837. In 1850 he was living in West Milford, Passaic County with John and Anna Parsell/Parcell. She was Anna Winters. William served in the civil war under the name of William Parcell. After the Civil war he married and lived in Sussex County as William Smith. Reportedly these were his grandparents. The only thing I had on his parents was that his father was William Smith and Mother Nancy Winters. I had assumed that they were dead because I would find nothing on them. With the help of the Sussex County 1850 census I came across the following entry. in Newton. William L. Smith 49 County Clerk, Nancy 48, John W. 23, Marshall 15, Emma 8, Jane 12 and a Susan Coleman 22. In 1860 I find Nancy Smith (52 or 62) with property, William 23 farmer and Emma 19 (This was a very poor filming of the original) Does anyone know anything about the above William and Nancy Smith and their children. It appears possible that my William moved back home with his mother and younger sister after the death of his father. His Grandparents do not appear in the 1860 census that I could find and since they were 66 and 65 in 1850 I figured that they had died. I also could not find William in the 1860 Passaic County census. Thanks for our Help Peggy Pharris TN
I am looking for any information on an Abraham Drake and Elizabeth Bowman. She had brothers born in the 1740's so that is probably the time frame and some of these brothers lived at Frankford, Sussex County. If anyone has come across these names please contact me. J. Kelsey Jones

I found more on yesterday's story from the trial 24 May 1880..... The courts determined that the two men (Campbell & Kane) took the life of a young man (Melancthon Washer) just in the prime of life whose widowed mother depended upon to look after her business affairs...the court hopes the young men obey the rules of prison and conduct themselves in such a manner that their sentence is considerably lessened for good behavior.... This should also be a warning to other young men in our midst to keep out of bad company and from roaming the streets at night in the company of dissolute women (like Amanda Snover) Clarence Campbell and Peter Kane were sentenced to twelve years, John Clark was acquitted. Obviously "Judge Judy" was not hearing that case.... Cathy DiPietro vdpcom@warwick.net listowner: NJSussex
