    2. Sheryl, Funny you should ask today. I just read an obituary last night, which mentions the deceased was interred in the "Mackerly" cemetery. [1890] This individual is definitely buried in the "Lafayette" cemetery, in Lafayette, Frankford Twp., Sussex Co., NJ ...well, his tombstone is there, next to his wife's. Im making an assumption he is buried there. This is the first time I have ever seen any reference to a Mackerly Cemetery. The Sussex County library [main branch] has an alphabetical listing for interments in the Lafayette Cemetery, but the listing does not have any dates. Leigh

    1. [NJSUSSEX-L] "N" index, Sussex 1850 census
    2. Wildrick Hart
    3. Hi listers: The unusual "ns" entries in the "N"index for the Sussex County, 1850 census are to be explained as follows. The enumeratores used their own judgement in making entries, some were poor spellers; ie Easter for Esther, etc., and there were many variations; which, at times, were a puzzle for the transcriber (at least for me) re how to transcribe without confusing future readers of the transcription. In the case of Byram Township, the enumerator chose to leave lines 41 and 42 blank on most pages, for some unknown reason. I was afraid that if I left them blank on the transcription, the reader would not be sure whether or not I had inadvertantly omitted entries for these lines. Hence, I put in "ns" for "No Surname" and "n n" for "No Name". In the remarks field, I put "No entry on this line.", but, of course this would not show in the index. Then, when the computer indexed the names, all of these entries fell in the "N" listing because of the "ns" surname!! Sorry to have caused this confusion. Wil

    3. Grant and Rosanna McDANIELS are my GG-grandparents. He was born about December 1860 in Pennsylvania and she about April 1856 in Pennsylvania. They married about 1883 and settled in Schickshinny, PA. I found a Grant in the 1870 Luzerne County, Pennsylvania census: John McDannels (age 60, born in NJ) - Susanah (age 51, born in NY) Grant (age 11, born in PA) Samantha (age 9, born in PA) Also listed in the same house, but as another family are: John McDanels (age 24, born in NJ) - Emiley (age 21, born in PA) I suspected John Sr, Susanah, and John Jr may be part of the large migration of McDaniels from Sussex County, NJ to Luzerne County, PA, so I looked in the Sussex County census for 1850 and found this family: John McDaniels (age 40, born in NJ) - Susanna McDaniels (age 36, born in NJ) Joseph (age 12, born in NJ) Elenor (age 8, born in NJ) Daniel (age 5, born in NJ) John (age 3, born in NJ) Does anyone have info on John, Susanna, or their children ?
