Hi, Does anyone know anything about the Williamsville cemetery. I think it is in Vernon Township. (Mr.) Terry Hann
Looking for more info on the family listed below. Specific questions: parents of Richard & Catharine, any other children, is Richard the Richard Decker found in the 1850 Huron Co., OH census, is Catherine the d/o Leonard Brink & Rachel Cortright? There appears to be some as yet unknown connection to a Decker family & my own Courtright family in Huron Co., OH. Thanks in advance, Cindy 1 Richard Decker .. +Catharine Brink m: Nov 20, 1790 Machemack RDC, Orange Co., NY, by Rev. E. I need some help here. Here's a problem for all you experts on the RIGGS that stayed in New Jersey. My g grandparents were John RIGGS b. about 1823 d. 6 March 1888 and Mary LOZAW b. about 1824. She was the daughther of Frank Lozaw. This infromation came from the death certificates from the State of New Jersey. These documents state that the parents of John Riggs were Silas Riggs and Mary ROLENBACK. This family lived in Vernon Township, Sussex, NJ. I have found a Silas Riggs b. 8 April 1781 and a Mary ROORBACH RORBACH b. 1784 married on 24 April 1803. There seems to be some confusion as to the children. I have found Rev. John Riggs b 1802, Amos Riggs b. 1804, Elizabeth, and Thompson D. b. 1811 d. 1889. Some family members believe John Riggs to have been a minister, but he is listed as a laborer and a farmer in the census. Either this is the wrong Silas or the dates are incorrect. Any one know of another Silas Riggs from Vernon Township in this time period or does anyone have additional information on the children of Silas Riggs and Mary Roorbach Rorbach Rolenback. Thanks. (Mr.) Terry Hann
I'm particularly delighted to have this Cemetery's records. The LANTERMAN Family, and a lot of other folks were in the area well before it was called Blairstown. Inevitably they intermarried. Fourteen surnames are on the burial list that intermarried with the Lantermans, some quite closely, others more remote. They include; BROWN, BUNNELL, FIRTH, GREEN, HARTMAN, HAUGHWOUT, JOHNSON, KONKLE, LAMBERT, MANN, MINGLE, RAUB, SNOVER, and SNYDER. Happy to exchange what information that I do have with anyone. Many years ago when i visited the Blair Campus and cemetery, I vaguely remember that the highest point on the campus had about six separate graves, at least two of which were Lantermans. Anyone know if they are still intact? Robert S. "BoB" LANTERMAN Jan Reuther wrote: > ok...that was just a test. Hi, folks... I've added the Methodist Church of Columbia to my web site. You can find it at http://raub-and-more.com/columbiamethcem.html. Thanks to all who responded on Washington Cemetery, I've learned that "Asso" probably does stand for "Association", and I've got a location for it too. Thanks! Jan Reuther

I'd appreciate it if anyone from that area can tell me what "Asso." stands for, and the location of this cemetery. Jan: Usually a Cemetery Association Owns or manages several full service Cemeteries. ie in Indianapolis the 4 "major" cemeteries are operated by one company. with flower shops, funeral parlors, recieving final word pavalions. They also have "life centers" for special events Veterans day etc. here is the URL to one of the best cemeteries in the state. it is where James Witcomb Riley and John Dillinger along with state "movers & shakers are buried. http://www.crownhill.org/genealogy/index.html Keith W Brown Indianapolis, IN http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/b/r/o/Keith-W-Brown

Greetings all! As you may recall, I posted a while back about Miss Margaret Cox of Newton, who, according to a clipping transcribed by a cousin of mine, read the biography when Gaspar Rorick's DAR marker was dedicated at Papakating Cemetery in the 1930s. She seemed to be a descendant, according to the clipping, of a daughter (Betsy) and son-in-law (David Carr) of Gaspar's of whom I was unaware, as were other Rorick researchers who contacted me. I finally made it downtown to the DAR Library this afternoon. There is no file on Gaspar Rorick, as there is on many individuals who are listed in the Patriot Index. So, I asked to find all DAR memberships claiming descendancy from Gaspar Rorick. There are three. All are older applications, which means that they are on negative microfilm (i.e., white writing on a black background) and extremely difficult to read as a result. The situation was further complicated by the fact that the library was repainted yesterday, and I was getting a headache from the paint fumes. I gave up on the two where the applicants had used their very best cursive: those belonged to Elizabeth Fuller Smith Cahill (whose first husband was Ed. St. Clair Smith and whose second husband was a Mr. Cahill) and someone whose name seemed to be Augusta Hinsdale Speed (but all I'm sure about is the Augusta part). Elizabeth Fuller Smith Cahill seems to descend from the marriage of Gaspar's daughter to Thomas Van Sickle. Augusta Hinsdale Speed (or whatever her name turns out to be) seems to be a descendant of Betsy Rorick and David Carr. I have asked for copies of their applications to be made and mailed to me. Hopefully, they will be more readable. The third application was for Miss Margaret Cox who, bless her!, typed her application. It didn't fill in many more details than my previous posting but it did have dates, which may make it easier to research her lineage. David Carr (b. 12 May 1781, no date of death given) married in 1807 Betsey Rorick (b. Sep 1784, d. 9 Jan 186_). Mary Carr (b. 12 Apr 1811, d. 11 Feb 1864) m. 18 Oct 1828 to James DeWitt (b. 29 Jul 1805, d. 25 Jun 1893). Margaret DeWitt (b. 14 Apr 1846, d. 31 Dec 190_) m. 26 Feb 1868 to Lewis J. Cox (b. 22 Jul 1842, no date of death given). Martin J. Cox (b. 2 Jan 1875) m. 14 Apr 1903 to Nellie S. Fotens (b. 8 Nov 1876). I will keep you posted as this line of research develops. Carol Ann
