The funeral was held at the Reformed church at Peters Valley on 17th inst. Interment in Peters Valley Cemetery. They were under a tree when it was struck. Several cases of measles are reported in the vicinity of Hainesville. 2. Butch & Sher
    3. From: "1872 Historical Directory of Sussex Co., NJ" Page 25: "THOMAS P. GUSTIN, son of Colonel GUSTIN, becoming financially embarrassed while in business with his brother in New York, returned to Augusta. He was followed by his dreditors who requested Coroner EPHRIAM GREEN to apprehend him. GUSTIN, who was seated in the store, knowing the object of GREEN, sprang over the counter and seizing a pistol, fired at him, the ball entering his leg near the knee. For sometime his life was dispaired of, but after painful illness he recovered. GUSTIN immediately escaped to the West." Can anyone expand on this? Thank you, Sheryl Gunderman Robinson

    1. [NJSUSSEX-L] GUSTIN FAMILY of Augusta, NJ
    2. Butch & Sher
    3. I descend from the GUSTIN family of Sussex Co., NJ. I am wondering how Col. JOHN GUSTIN who was the founder of AUGUSTA and had a store in Branchville, fit into the line. I believe I descend from a JOHN GUSTIN who was born 1691 in Lynn, Essex Co., MA. and died 1777 in Sussex Co., NJ. He is buried in Branchville on the "Duffy McDannold Farm ( as of the early '50's) This JOHN had a son THOMAS who married RUTH OWEN. His son, THOMAS, married JANE HILL or HUI. They had a daughter MARGARET GUSTIN who married WILLIAM STULL. Their daughter, CHARLOTTE A. STULL is my 2nd great grandmother. Much of this information is not properly documented. Could someone help me who has researched this line? Thanks, Sheryl Gunderman Robinson

    2. Hi, This is a broad questions for a local historian. Does anyone know what Protestant denominations were common in Sussex in the mid 19th century? The family thinks that one of the people we are researching was a minister. Since he is listed in the census as a farmer, this was probably a part time job. Thanks. (Mr.) Terry Hann

    2. Mr Hann asked about a cemetery in Williamsville. Sorry I don't know about it, but do have a question. I have a ggg grandfather who was wounded in the War of 1812 and died in a hospital in Williamsville. The problem is, I don't know what state. Was there a battle near there? His widow's pension papers don't tell the state. Would appreciate any help. If there is a cemetery there, he could be buried in it. Thanks Phyllis Whelan
