    1. George S. HALL/ Laura ROE: Patterson, NJ 1900, 1910, 1920
    2. George S. HALL and wife, Laura ROE were married about 1890. Both were born in NJ; Laura was born in Sussex County, in 1870, the daughter of Jacob D. ROE and Sarah SHORTER. They had two children but both were deceased by 1900. Can anyone connect with this family? I need the parentage of George S. HALL and where both George and Laura died and were buried. When died? Names of children?--dates of birth and death? George was a carpenter. In the 1910 census, he worked on his own as a violin maker. Does anyone know any details of this occupation? (Being a musician myself, I have more than just genealogical interest here.) I will appreciated any help. If there are descedants I could connect with, that would be great. Mona in Richmond, IN

    1. Two more additions
    2. Jan Reuther
    3. Hi, folks.... Thanks to Wendy Heitzman, I have two more additions to my web site. "Colonial Naturalization List" is a complete listing of all people naturalized during the Colonial Period (1713 - 1772) and can be found at http://raub-and-more.com/colonialnatlist.html "West Jersey Tract Dwellers" is an account of applications made to the West Jersey Society in 1782 and 1783. It can be found at http://raub-and-more.com/wjerseytract.html Just as an aside, the reason I've been adding so much lately is that I've had a few major life changes this year. In January, I brought my mother-in-law to live with me; she suffers age-related dementia (and at almost 97, I think she's entitled!). Obviously, she takes a lot of my time and attention. I've also buried a lot of my genealogy records (not to mention everything else) with all her belongings that were moved here. I purchased a new computer (and yes, for me, a new computer IS a major life change!), and I was unable to get to my web site to make changes until this week. This has been going on for months, and was terribly frustrating for me, as I'm sure it was for those who have been sending me things to go on the web site. I've retired. YES! So, hopefully I'll be able to spend a lot more time in front of this new computer. Finally, I have nearly filled the 100 mg allotted for my web site, and I'm now trying to get more space. If this happens at the same rat! e of speed that getting back on my FTP went, it may be a while. But please...keep those items coming...I'll find a way! Jan Reuther http://www.RAUB-and-more.com

    1. GSNJ / NJSA Lecture Series Syllabus Information
    2. Joan M Lowry
    3. Fellow Researchers: Many people have expressed interest in the upcoming lecture series "Exploring Your Jersey Roots II," being sponsored this Fall by the Genealogical Society of New Jersey and the New Jersey State Archives. (Info on our websites: www.gsnj.org and www.njarchives.org) Some have indicated that they would not be able to attend the series but would be interested in purchasing a copy of the syllabus. So, for those who are interested - The syllabus for the GSNJ / NJSA "Exploring Your Jersey Roots II" lecture series will be made available for purchase at the end of the lecture series in November. The price won't be set until nearly the end of the series, once we determine how large the full syllabus will be. (Last year's syllabus (which sold out quickly) was about 100 pages and priced at $18, plus $2 postage.) We will put the purchase information on the GSNJ website as soon as it is available. It also may be posted on the NJ State Archives website. I think that the intent will be to make it available in hard copy (paper) and on CD-Rom, so you will be able to purchase it in either format. www.gsnj.org http://www.njarchives.org I will keep a list of email addresses for anyone interested in purchasing a copy and when the price is set - I'll email everyone. If you are interested, please email me off-list at mailto:[email protected] Thank you for your interest! Regards, Joan Joan M. 1. Need info re: Philip "Tip" Grover/Groover, Civil War Vet m. to Carrie Ackerman
    2. I am seeking information about Philip "Tip" Grover/Groover who was a Civil War veteran and later in life married a young women who was born in 1870, Carrie (Phoebe) Ackerman. They lived in Sussex County. I can't seem to find them in the 1890's-1910's Census records though I know they were married and having children then. I do know that Carrie was the daughter of John J. and Julia Ackerman who lived in Sussex County. She had three sisters named Ida V. (Ackerman) Hamler, Emma (Ackerman) Hamler (the two sisters were married to two Hamler brothers; after Emma's husband Vandevere Hamler died, she married Harry Babcock); Rachel Ackerman; and Manerva Ackerman, one of whom married a "Berry" surname. The two Hamlers who married the Ackerman sisters were sons of David and Amy (Drake) Hamler; David was b. in 1809 and Amy was born in 1822. I believe that Phillip "Tip" Grover/Groover was well known in the Sussex County community. Who were his parents? And who was his first wife and family? Thanks for any information! Mr. Benjamin, assisted in the presence of many friends and neighbors. The floral offerings were many and beautiful , and were evidence of the high esteem in which the departed was held. In the family plot in the beautiful Walkill Valley she was laid to rest. Though by nature denied the honor of mother-hood, she, by the grace of God, was tender, kind and loving to all and all can well afford to try to live as blameless and useful life as her's, " Earth to earth and dust to dust Calmly now the words we say Left behind we wait and trust For the resurrection day. 1. Looking for John Bush
    2. Franor
    3. I don't know where to go next. Five year search and I cannot find a death record at Trenton or anywhere. I have paid for lookups at Trenton and nothing. I am looking for John Bush and family wife Clarrissa Weise Bush, and Alventta. I found them on the 1870 Chester census. They had 2 more children, my Grandmother (oh yes I am 78) Mary and Martha brn before 1875. Found children living as borders with Robinson family on Schooley Mt., and finally Clarrissa in 1910 living with them. What I need to find out is a lookup on the 1875 NJ State Census to see where they were in 1875, if he is alive or the. death of John Bush. Norma Shepherd nc

    3. There used to be a gentleman at the Sussex Co. New Jersey Historical society, ? Dick Stevens, who goes into the town record all. I'd try contacting him for assistance. 2. My Great-Uncle, William H. Hamler (Jr.) married a lady called Annie Townsend and for some reason I am having great difficulty finding her relatives. Out of my Grandfather's 8 siblings, Annie is the only wife that has remained so elusive. Could she be related to your Elizabeth Townsend? My GGrandfather, also called William H. Hamler, was the head of the home in the Census of 1830, Hardiston, Sussex Co., NJ. He was born in 1807, Sussex County. I am still looking for the names of his parents though I do know that the Hamler family came to New Jersey in 1718. My Grandfather was born in Sussex County and my Dad was born in Morris County. Anna E. Townsend was born in Sussex County in 1843 and between 1868-1872, she and husband William H. Hamler (Jr.) owned storefront property in Newton, Sussex Co., NJ. Their marriage date was 22 Sep 1863 in Mount Pisgah, Sussex Co., NJ at William's sister's home. Their only child I am aware of was Ida May Hamler, b. 22 Sep 1872 in Pennsylvania. The family moved back and forth between New Jersey where William H. was born and Pennsylvania where William died in 1906. I don't know when Annie (Townsend) Hamler died. When daughter Ida grew up, she married John Johnson who lived in a farm in Sussex Co., New Jersey. William lived with the couple toward the end of his life. Does anything sound familiar? Many thanks, Kathleen >>Hi. I'm looking for a deed from Hardiston, Sussex Co, NJ 28 May 1795, Book P, Pg 485. Supposedly signed by Elizabeth Townsend. Can some one tell me how I might look at a copy or transcription given that I'm way out here in California? Does anybody on the list happen to have that page handy? ;-} Any help is appreciated.
