    1. FW: [NJSUSSEX-L] Prayers
    2. Linda Cammaroto
    3. After spending all day worrying about my son, who I just dropped off at college in Melbourne, FL, no apology is needed as far as I am concerned. It took him 6 1/2 hours to go 2 1/2 hour drive from Melbourne to St. Augustine. He just called to tell me he got to my daughters house in St. Augustine. I'll keep your family in my prayers as I pray for my own. I understand from him that they have closed all the south bound lanes and are opening them so people can go north, but it is still slow going. We were down there the day Charlie hit taking him to college. I never dreamed two weeks later another one would hit. God Bless. Linda -----Original Message----- From: Nancy Pascal [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, September 02, 2004 12:24 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [NJSUSSEX-L] Prayers Sorry for using the list for a purpose other than the one that was intended but I wanted to ask for your prayers. We live on the east coast of Florida just north of West Palm Beach and we are bracing for Hurricane Frances. It is a cat 4 already and expected to strenghten before it hits land. Please pray for the safety of all who live on the east coast of Florida which includes our son and his family, my parents and both my brothers and their families. I ask especially for one brother who is trying to get back from Colorado in time to get some of his things off one of the barrier islands. God DOES answer prayer! Thanks in advance. God Bless! 3. Nancy, This is the place to call for prayers for all on the coast, and in Fla. I hope you all can go where it is safe. I have a Granddaughter in Jacksonville to worry about. We also live on the coast between NC & SC so not out of the wood either. It helps to know we have friends. Norma Dear Friends, Well, The Hurricane is right on course to slam into Brevard County and Volusia County, its a Killer Hurricane. They say the sustained Hurricane Winds will last for 20 hours. There goes the top off my convertable! It will soon become a Category 4 or 5 much stronger than Andrew years ago which they are still rebuilding from.Right now its at 145 MPH! Great Atlas Rocket Launch tonight. This was the 4th attempt and it went beautifully with the NRO Satellite onboard. The last Lockheed Martin Atlas 2A rocket to ever Launch and the end of Launch Pad 36A after 30 years or so of service. I viewed it from Canaveral Air Force Station on NASA Propewrty just 8 miles from the Launch Site. If you dont hear from me for a while after this Saturday, its because of the damage from Frances. Maybe my Cell Phone will work but I doubt it. Our only Prayer for no one to get hit is if it turns Eastward out to Sea and that is very unlikely! There is no where to go if it keeps its current course because it will go right up the Coast and its so big it will cut a path 100 miles across! Had to stop at 3 Gas Stations tonight to fill my Caddy with Gas, the first two Stations were out of Gas already! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nancy Pascal" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, September 02, 2004 12:23 PM Subject: [NJSUSSEX-L] Prayers > Sorry for using the list for a purpose other than the one that was intended > but I wanted to ask for your prayers. 1. LANCE, MORDEN, TWINNING, LINDABERRY, FREEMAN update
    2. After reviewing some of the data I've had for years but had not put two and two together inspiration finally hit. My search and research centers on Blairstown - Walnut Valley and Hainsburg Cemetery. There is also an unknown LANCE person buried in Blair Cemetery but I'll save that one for later. There are 24 known LANCE people buried in Hainsburg Cemetery. With one exception these all appear to be the children of JOHN LANCE, b Oct. 7, 1780 - d DEC 24, 1856. John was the husband of NANCY, born about 1793 and who passed Dec. 24, 1851. John and Nancy has seven children I know of: There were three girls, Elizabeth who married a Mr. Twinning, Catherine who married a Mr. Freeman and Charity. Nothing else is known about these women nor their familles. I'd like to know at least the age of the girls - maybe they have living decendants who know more about the family? Of the four boys the eldest is William, born about 1817. I believe this William and my great great grandfather William who married Charlott Brown about 1835 - died between 1866 - 1870, to be the same man. In John Lance's will, probated in 1857, he mentions his son WILLIAM and gives to him two pieces of land; 1. The Twinning house and lot belonging to Binyon Twinning, and 2. the lot brought from Gershim Lindaberry. One unlinked Lance person in Hainsburg is Elenor Lance, wife of JOHN LANCE. She died April 6, 1840, at the age of 53-0-27, which makes her date of birth March 10, 1787. I don't know who this Elenor is but there is a record of ELENOR MORDEN who married August 2, 1807, to a JOHN LANCE, both of Knowlton. I need to know if Nancy was the one and only wife of JOHN LANCE 1780 - 1856. I know the date she passed 12-24 - 1850, and her approximate age at death, which gives me an approximate year of birth - 1793. What I don't have is: a marriage date, her maiden name, or a will, almost any of which would tell me if she is the mother of the children listed in John Lance's will. I also have been unable to find her burial place. The Elenor who is buried in Hainsburg passed in 1840, making her the earliest known LANCE burial at Hainsburg. It seems almost certain this Elenor is Elenor Morden and that she married about age 20 to a JOHN LANCE. I know that Elenor (Morden ? ) passed away about 11 years before NANCY, the wife of JOHN LANCE, died. The question is: Could Elenor be the first wife of JOHN who was husband of NANCY? If not, who was the JOHN LANCE she was married to? Lastly, the clue of the property bequeathed to WILLIAM by JOHN may yield some unexpected information...but how to get the land records or what ever other records that will tell me when he marries and to whom and so on. Your ideas? Thank you. Laurence Lance Seattle

    1. mystery of Elenor LANCE buried in Hainsburg Cemetery ( TWINNING - LINDABERRY
    2. I have found clear evidence that JOHN LANCE who is buried in Hainsburg Cemetery which is on the DELEWARE WATER GAP and just seven miles from BLAIRSTOWN, is one of the two lost children of ANTHONY LANTZ - LANCE who is a grandson of HANS PETER LANTZ one of the three LANTZ men who arrived in American October 1738 The earliest known LANCE burial in Hainsburg Cemetery, just west of Walnut Valley, NJ is Elenor Lance who died April 6, 1840. Elenor's age is given on her stone, so using Family Tree Maker I find a date of birth for her as Saturday March 10, 1787. Elenor's tombstone reads "W or Wife of John Lance". The question is she a widow or a wife - meaning did John survive her? There are lots of JOHN LANCE men in the family tree so without more information I can't figure out who Elenor's husband was. There is another nearby stone for a JOHN LANCE who was the husband of NANCY. By various means I have calculated that this JOHN was born October 7, 1780 and I know that he passed December 24, 1856. His wife, NANCY, passed away Christmas Eve five years earlier, Dec. 24, 1851. I also know from the 1850 Census that NANCY was born about 1793. To make matters worse, there is no mention on JOHN's stone of a wife - NANCY or othwise. In fact I am still serching for where NANCY is buried. So far no luck. Elenor could be the first wife of JOHN who later may have married NANCY but it seems more likely to me that Elenor was a wife to another JOHN LANCE - but who? Ideas very welcome in finding more about Elenor. Lastly, just to throw another log on the fire, JOHN, husband of NANCY, had at least four sons, the eldest being WILLIAM to whom he gave in his will two pices of land - the land he ( John ) had purchased from Binyon TWINNING and a lot he had bought from Gershim Lindaberry. I'd love to have some help here as I've hit a brick wall. Thank you. Laurence Lance Seattle

    1. North Church AKA North Hardyston Cemetery
    2. Is there anyone on the list that is in physical proximity enough to Hamburg, NJ that they could do a stop at North Church cemetery for me? I am trying to get the people from T.Y. Ward Monument Co. in Hackettstown to carve the date of death on my mother's stone there any they now say they need exact directions within the cemetery to locate the stone. I have given them the section and lot number, but that wasn't enough. I have been to the site many times, but am now living 400 miles away and can't draw an exact map, within the cemetery, from memory. If someone is able to swing by, I can give pretty close directions (off list so I don't annoy everyone else!) and would just ask that you could confirm exactly how many "blocks" from the front and center this plot is and give me the name of the family stone on the corner of the proper lane so the "gentlemen" from the monument company can find it. If these "gentlemen" hadn't had my cash since January to pay for this, I'd find another caver in the area. Grrr. Many Thanks, Heidi in Maine

    1. Need help with McCOY COX/Caroline ROE family
    2. McCoy COX, son of Nicholas I. COX and Meribah (unk.) married Caroline ROE, daughter of John Jacob ROE and Sarah BROSS on 1 Feb. 1860 in Sussex Co., NJ. McCoy was born 1835 and died 1866. He is buried in Papakating Cemetery, Sussex Co., NJ. Caroline, born 1836, died 1898 and is buried also in Papakating Cem. They had one infant who died 16 Jan. 1861, a son and he is buried in Papakating Cem. Was Sarah Alice COX, b. 1862, one of their children? Was Nicholas COX (1864-d. 1902 in Wantage Twp.,) and who married Charlotte DUNN, another of their children? I find this in the 1850 census, Vernon Twp.: Nicholas Cox, 61 years Meribah Cox, 54 years Rebecca Cox, 18 years McCoy Cox 14 years Nicholas, 25 years Charlotte Cox, 23 years Sarah Cox, 4 years. Apparently the above Nicholas and Meribah were the parents of Rebecca and McCoy and possibly also Nicholas? Charlotte, the wife of Nicholas and Sarah, the daughter of Charlotte and Nicholas? The 1860 census, for Hardyston Twp., has McCoy and Caroline living with Nicholas I and Meribah Cox, presumably parents sof McCoy. 1870 census (McCoy is deceased) find Caroline as widow in Wantage Twp., I don't have any other names with her. I guess I need to find that census again. 1880 census, Village of Deckertown, Caroline is living with daughter, Alice, and Caroline's sister, Harriet ROE. Can anyone help me more with the children of Caroline and McCoy COX? Thank you. Mona
