    3. I want to thank all those who responded to my request. I found my gggf's headstone. There seems to be a lot of space between his marker and those around him. Can anyone tell me who manages the Frankford Plains Cemetery. I'm trying to determine if anyone is buried beside my gggf without a marker, and who paid for his burial and headstone.

    2. Do the below-mentioned mines have anything to do with the Andover Iron Mine? My GGrandfather and Grandfather Carpenters worked in that mine in the mid-late 1800's. 1. Nestors and Berrigans of Franklin, NJ
    2. Gail Nestor
    3. My father-in-law's grandfather was William C. Nestor, Sr. (1884-1935). He lived in Franklin and worked at NJ Zinc from 1906 to 1935. He was a "personnel manager." I believe I had someone check the index to the book mentioned below and there was not much if anything about him. However, I wanted to put his name out there in case anyone comes across information on the Nestors. There is even a Nestor Street in Franklin. William raised a big family and was buried in Ogdensburg at St. Thomas. I'm also looking for information on William Berrigan (1824-1893) who fought in the civil war shortly after he came to Sussex County from Ireland. He married Mary Maher and had Mary Anna Berrigan who later married William C. Nestor. My web site is: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~nestorgenealogy/ if anyone wants to take a look. These are the two main families from the Franklin area, but I do have research on a few collateral lines also. Thanks for any leads on the Nestors and Berrigans out there! 3. I would like to thank everyone for their responses yesterday, they were all very helpful! While the topic remains books, I would like to take this opportunity to recommend a book to anyone who had relatives live and work around the Franklin and Sterling Hill Mines in the early/mid 1900s. The book is called "A Mile Deep and Black as Pitch: An Oral History of the Franklin and Sterling Hill Mines" and it is by Carrie Papa. You can currently purchase the book on Amazon.com for around $20. The book is a compilation of first-hand accounts of what life was like in that area during the mines' operation. Very, very insightful and interesting to read, and it can really hit home if you have/had family who experienced it. Enjoy! 3. Just did a lookup for the book on www.abebooks.com, a great site for finding old books, (This is where I got my reprint of History of The Fifteenth Regiment New Jersey Volunteers by Alanson A. Haines, 1883) and a store in Utah has the Snell book listed for sale at $750.00 US. I'd go with the electronic version. -----Original Message----- From: Jan Reuther [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, March 16, 2005 8:45 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [NJSUSSEX-L] Sussex County history books This book often comes up for sale in CD format on eBay. 2. Snell's book is called "History of Sussex and Warren Counties, New Jersey" and was published in 1881. I'm not sure that it's ever been reprinted, but it's in a number of libraries. 3. Brian, Snell's history is online at HeritageQuest. Check your local library's webpage for their searchable databases. You can get on with your library card number. They have many books on Sussex County as well as some census and Revolutionary War pension files. Mary ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brian C.
