    3. Dear List Members, I am looking for information on the location of the Compton-Castner Burying Ground.I am hoping that it still exists, as many of my husbands ancestors are buried there. I am researching the CAIN ancestors from Somerset County.I have a Joseph Cain married Margaret Perrine ,b.1773 and d.1958. They married in 1790.I do not know where Joseph is buried, but Margaret is buried in the old Presbyterian Cemetery Bound Brook. They had children: 1-Margaret CAIN,b.abt 1792 unmarried and buried in Bound Brook Cem. 2-James Cain,m.Sarah Hodge and when she died at 26,he married her sister Rachel Hodge. They are both buried in the Compton-Castner Cem. Joseph Cain bought the Doty Farm(Rev War) in 1852.It most likely is located on or near Adamsville Rd.Bridgewater Twp. There children were: Joseph Cain,Jr,b.abt 1833,Margaret Cain,b.abt 1834 who married David CAMPBELL.They are both buried in the Compton-Castner Cem. Susan(Addie) Adalaide CAIN,b.? and died in 1933.She is buried in the Bound Brook Cemetery with her parents and some siblings.Unmarried, when she died she left the farm she inherited from her Mother in 1893 to the Baptist Church, and they sold the farm and 166 acres in Bridgewater Twp. near or on Adamsville Rd. for about $5,000.00 in 1935. I obtained many letters and information from the Somerset Historical Society a few weeks ago. There were letters between a Mabel Van Nostrand, and a Charles MILLER who lived in Missouri. He had been raised near the Cain Farm and most likely was related but I have been unable to make that connection yet.He also exchanged letters with a Mrs John Hall.Mabel Van Nostrand speaks of her father being the son of Joseph and Mary Sayre Cain.If anyone recognizes her name or descendents,I would like to contact them. If anyone knows where the Compton-Castner Burying Ground is located please let me know.I would like to visit it,as I will be in that area in two weeks. If anyone is a descendent of the surnames in my email I will be happy to send you a copy of who is buried there. I thank you in advance for any assistance or information.
