    3. Greetings: Are you looking for a death record from 1978? I want to be certain that the date you typed is correct. It seems strange that the newspaper doesn't have records only 20 years old? You may attempt to contact the hospital(s) in Scotch Plains, or her family. I would contact the Library again, they may just be a little chaotic. Ask them for possible churches in the town, contact them for records, also, ask the library for the names of the funeral parlors, who will certainly have some data as to what church services might have been at, and shat cemetary she was buried in. In lieu of the Library, ask these things of the Chamber of Commerce, Funeral parlors, churches, all Newspapers in Town. Can you see if any Gartlands live in town? Old age homes? Really grill the Library, they should be able to give you more than the obituary, it seems. Ask them where else you could go to get a copy of the obituary from that paper. There may be other Librarys in the region to carry the archives... Cheryl L.
