    1. Dorland-Durling Family in Montgomery Twp-Hillsboro Area

    3. Hi Sharon, My name is Jackie Lubinski and I have been researching my father James H. Wells's family for about 2 years. His mother was Anna Coral Durling--descended from Lambert Janse Dorlandt whose farm is on Sunset Road in Montgomery (now The Crawford House). She married Harry James Wells-originally from PA. My father was orphaned at the age of 6 and was unaware of his family's rich history in Somerset County, and I have just within the two years been able to piece together many of his ancestors with the help of many people and a historical book on the Dorlandt family. I have been to the Dorlandt House and on a hunch stopped at the Harlingen Church Cemetery to see if any of my ancestors were buried there and found many including my Great Grand Uncle and Aunt Nathanial McPherson Durling and Gertrude Ann Edwards. I am interested in the cemetery listing for any Dorland/Durlings that you have. I have taken photographs of the Durling headstones that I found, however some are not very readable. I also am researching the Ammerman and Post lines as these were spouses of Dorland males. Do you show any listings for any of these last names? I do not know if I missed anyone in my search there and would like to verify my files to see who I am missing and if what I have is correct. I am also interested in the Belle Mead/Montgomery area in general. This is where most of my ancestors lived until my grandfather William H. Durling and his wife Phebe Ann Cray (from Skillman) relocated to South Bound Brook, NJ, about 1885 were they lived and died. They and William's brother Abraham and my father and mother are buried in the Bound Brook Cemetery. I don't know if there are any more Durling descendants living in the Belle Mead area anymore. I have also been trying to trace the Duffield family who lived in the Montgomery/Belle Mead area. William's sister Catharine Durling married a William P. Duffield (both buried in the Blawenburg Cemetery as well as a few other Durlings) and there are a few Duffields in the Harlingen Cemetery that I am not sure of the connection with William Duffield. Any information that you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jackie Wells Lubinski jwl@hunterdon.csnet.net
